I thought I had a Samsung one, but I found the receipt from early 2018 and it’s actually a brand called PNY that I went with. I found a link for it on Amazon, it’s actually way cheaper now than when I had bought it.

It’s done really well for me, but if I was in the market for one right now, I’d wait a week for the Black Friday week sales/Cyber Monday and just pick from there for the best deal.

I use this in my S, should work fine with an X. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GQPXBQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_RYFQWPQEEWXWQEBTEX4M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Portable SSDs work better than flash drives, if your car fries this, it might have an electrical problem

To be specific, the OS and the software can run on an SD card. You just want to put your data folder on an a solid state drive. This drive is a good option and works well for me.
If you run your node on an SD card it will corrupt pretty quickly, especially if you only have a 4GB pi. I know from experience 🙂

I got the cheapest USB SSD I found, has been working great: PNY Elite 240GB USB 3.1 Portable… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GQPXBQC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There are reports of throttling if doing best transfers but it shouldn’t be a problem for a HA use case, I think

I nearly typed out a serious response oops.
Side note I’ll be using a WD 1TB HDD
Here’s the link to the small SSD I’m planing on getting(turns out it’s actually smaller than an ID

240GB PNY – https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GQPXBQC?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1
500GB Samsung – https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0874YS2N7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
I’ve set up nodes on both of these. I would prefer 500 GB if just for your 1 personal setup

No, you can definitely use an external SSD with the base PS4. I’ve used one before, and many others here have said it’s improved the game a bit for them.
And practically any External SSD is better than the garbage stock HDD in the base PS4. That thing only transfers data at 100 mb/s
External SSDs are actually quite cheap, look on Amazon for example, they transfer at much fast rates than the stock HDD.

240 GB is plenty for Cyberpunk and maybe even another game or two.

The reason this is happening is because the PS4s HDD can’t keep up with the asset streaming in the game.
I hate to say this, but playing this game on HDD is just a good way to set yourself up for a bad experience.
Trust me when I say, it’s miles better with an SSD as opposed to an HDD.
I made the mistake of running the game on my external HDD I have as opposed to my Samsung 870 EVO, which I usually run it on and I personally noticed that:
• The game was a lot slower.
• The game had a lot less traffic and NPCs being spawned, I was practically the only guy on the road.
• The game was oddly more buggy, I encountered a lot more bugs than usual.
That’s when I checked and I moved it back to my 870 EVO and those problems stopped happening. I did that on PC.
FWIW, I’m thinking of trying out this same method myself some point soon to see how the experience is.
But seriously, check out some external SSDs, it might make your experience better.
240 GB should cover the game, and those aren’t too expensive, I think.

For comparisons sake, the stock PS4 HDD runs at around 100mb/s, while this PNY one I sent for $40 runs at 430mb/s, much faster already.

I don’t see the 240 GB sold via amazon at the moment, but it’s the one i got from them in October.

This is the one I use. Seems to work just fine.
