I’m glad you posted this. I am a cheapskate and read mediocre reviews about the Echo’s sound, so I got a Dot and these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IVI3JD8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There is an issue with the speakers going into standby mode, which can be fixed by modifying the Dot’s settings to include a chime after addressing Alexa. I don’t hear the chime that “wakes up” the speakers but I can hear Alexa’s subsequent response. The sound is pretty good, although I am no expert. Also there was a bit of a feedback crackle, but it went away when I moved the Dot away from the speakers a bit.

I currently use the Omni at work because Realtek can bite my shiny metal ass. I like it, it sounds good (have it connected to some 2.0 speakers) and could be used with a usb port replicator or dock if I were using such a thing. It sounds way better than the integrated Dell audio card on the machine…
