This will be absolutely topping out the budget, but IMO the best headphone deal for $200 with a nice cinematic experience and really detailed sound and clear mids mids yet also nice and satisfying low end is the Philips Fidelio X3. Currently $199 and was originally $400 when released a few months back, and then dropped to $350 fairly quickly. I use mine with my Xbox One, but through a dedicated DAC/amp via optica out which is a noticeable improvement in quality over using the controller. Have used Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos Headphone, and DTS Headphone:X… all are fairly similar and work over the controller.

The Fidelio X2HR is less expensive, but is not even the same thing… X3 is more neutral, clear, and detailed while the X2HR is warmer and more V shaped. X2HR falls behind he X3 in most areas other than having more bass impact (but it’s boomy and noticeably affects the mids/vocals), a bit fuller/more solid sound, and about the same open, expansive sound.

I have compared the Momentum 2 with the Neo. The Neo had much more bass. Too much for me. More of a basshead headphone, IMO. But very good if that’s what you want.

If these are for home use, I would recommend the Philips X3 over both while they’re on sale at Amazon for $199. They are open headphones, which gives them a much larger sound stage. Makes them more immersive for audio. Open headphones also tend to be more comfortable for longer listening sessions because your ears can breathe.

Amazon has free return shipping on them, so no penalty for trying them.

If you want something more audiophile for hip hop and electronic music, but without quite as much mid-base emphasis is X2HR, give the new Philips X3 a try while they are still on special Amazon for $200

IMO, much better for those genres than HD6XX, and I enjoy the X3 for rock more than I do the HD6XX.

>I find my current setup too clinical. The 6XXs sound fantastic, but even with EQ, it seems a little bit lifeless/not that present. I’d also appreciate more bass/sub-bass.

Try the new Philips X3 while they’re on special for $199

Might be exactly what you’re looking for. And Amazon has free returns if you don’t like them.

If you’re coming from MDR-1A, if you would like a little extra bass emphasis, the Philips X3 currently on special at Amazon for $199 are worth giving a try.

They won’t be that bass heavy, but lean towards a little more bass presence than the other wired headphones you are considering.

They are also fairly easy to drive at 30 ohms and should work well with your phone. Amazon has free return shipping on them if you don’t like them

You might want to try the new Philips X3. Amazon currently has the most special for $250, with free returns, which means free return shipping if you don’t like them.

I just got them. They have some extra bass, but I wouldn’t call them very busy. A warm sound with a good sound stage.

Hey guys, looking to get some quality studio headphones to listen to my guitar through, plus do some recording in the future. I don’t want wireless headphones, I just want something with exceptional quality for my guitar. I found this deal for black friday, and want to know your opinions. https://www.amazon.com/Philips-X3-Headphones-Multi-Layer-diaphragms/dp/B0884XTXS8

I’m leaning on purchasing them unless someone says they have a much better option. Suggestions please!

I’ve been demoing the new Phillips X3. I would recommend them for your genres of music over the X2HR

Same with headphones. Example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0884XTXS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8lsvFb1QGZMHR

It’s lumped in with their previous line of headphones. I just want to see the reviews for the X3’s!
