I got the Petsafe brand. Super helpful. Ended up pulling up carpets and installing hardwood flooring almost everywhere as one of my hyper fixations. Never used an electric saw before then. Didn’t know I had ADHD then either, so it’s lucky I didn’t lose a finger due to my inattentiveness.

Oof that’s frustrating. Especially if you’ve for a sensitive nose (shudder)

Possible good thing to invest in: an automatic kitty litter box.
There are some versions that have prepackaged litter trays and others that allow you to add your own litter. The actual unit itself is a smidge pricey though. We were thankfully gifted ours.

This is the one we have (prepackaged litter)

(He still needs to clean it though 🙂

Well I hate to tell you but I went back through Amazon and it looks like the specific model is currently unavailable but they do have a top entry one. I bought mine in 2018 for $159 (I checked my history) and it’s still going strong.

Yes it is a self cleaning little box it scoops it to the side to keep it out of the way. The one I have you still have to scoop it but at least kitty doesn’t have to step in it. https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-ScoopFree-Self-

It’s kind of pricey but we use these boxes and they help ALOT. Keeps the smell minimum and also helps you keep up the maintenance, making less invasive, and less chance for it to stink as much. Petsade Scoopfree Auromatic self Cleaning Box on Amazon

There’s also a cheaper model without the hood, you should be able to see show up in the search results.

We tried this one, it was pretty good and gifted it to a friend when we couldn’t use it because of our luddite cats.

The only bad thing about that one is that it uses special litter, I bet there are other ones that you can use regular litter for though! Have you tried putting one of the litter boxes in the spot they’re eliminating on? Sometimes my cats want the box moved a foot away and will start pooping/peeing in a new spot and I’ll just clean the spot and put the box there, no more going outside the box.

I don’t know what your scooping situation is but if you haven’t heard about it check out the litter genie! I still scoop every day but I only have to run litter to the trash once a week now, which is great in the winter. It’s basically a diaper genie that you scoop poops into, I wish I’d found out about it sooner. Don’t buy the refills from Amazon though, buy them at Walmart it’s half price and a three pack will last you for months. Some people even hack them to just use regular 13 gallon trashbags but I like the odor protection of their refills.

I just realized I’ve become a cat box expert, haha. Good god.

we got something similar when we moved out of our apartment and bought a house. the crystals do a phenomenal job of trapping the odors and the automatic scoop moves the poop away to a covered section of the tray. one tray will last our 3 cats about a week, and the only downside is that once the crystals become saturated and change color, it’ll start to stink fairly fast.

we just came home from vacation and the box went a day or so too long, but it’s insanely easy to change so that was the first thing my husband did after we got back.

Unfortunately the cheapest litter robot is $349. I think I’m going to go with the ScoopFree.

this product will be your new best friend. My boyfriend and I foster kitties (currently have 7 in the house) and I REFUSE to be that person who smells like cat pee or have my house smell that way. I also have a bit of an allergy ( i think its the ammonia in their urine) but I use this box and the litter crystals and its like MAGIC. NO odor, no scooping, no pouring dusty litter. when the tray is dirty you put the lid on it and put it in a trashbag. Put a new tray in. DONE. don’t have to keep track of when the last time you changed out the full box, nothing. A little spendy upfront but im telling you.. worth every penny. I have the trays on auto refill through amazon so theyre cheaper. Hope this helps you. I SWEAR BY IT.

ESH but you’re the parent and so you’re responsible. If your minor child gets a pet, be forewarned, you have the ultimate responsibility for those pets.

There are many options for litter and litterboxes, you need to try some different ones. You might also need to find a better ventilated location for the litterboxes. Here are some reviews for automatically cleaning ones. This one is rated highly for smell reduction.

What you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT DO is put litter boxes in your child’s room, AFTER they have complained about the smell making them sick. This creates an unsafe living condition for your daughter, EVEN IF she’s scooping them every day. Most people keep litter boxes in rooms or areas not frequently used because they do smell.

This is more expensive but worth every penny to me. I don’t have to scoop everyday just change the box every couple of weeks.

This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PetSafe-ScoopFree-Ultra-Self-Cleaning-Litter/dp/B000XSC8R2

But be warned, the reviews are correct when they mention the price of litter.. but eh, I just buy cheaper litter from petmania. Works fine.

Yeah I was considering that, especially since it’s so cheap. But I currently have this: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XSC8R2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage so it’s hard to replace a nice litter box like that.
