This is the one I use. I don’t think I paid this much though. Really reliable. I tried a couple others and found that they jam.

My work requires me to work unscheduled over-time sometimes. Mine dont go nuts like this but gives me silent treatment. Like if it is depressed and sad.
I bought automatic cat feeder with timer. I programmed the weight and time of feeding. It works with electric also batteries in case power goes out. Happy cat happy me.
Edit: it holds about 2 kgs so i can be easily one week away.

Amazon has some great cat trees that are pretty inexpensive, you just have to put them together, maybe get some different stick toys, even when I’m super fatigued I can wiggle it for my little jerk or jury rig something together. I’ve had this autofeeder since 2017, works great & never had an issue.

The PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed Automatic Cat Feeder. There’s also a more expensive model that will connect with your cell phone, if that’s a thing you’re interested in.
I also don’t use the bowl. My cat will only eat from plates, so I have a plate with a small lip. Works fine. A couple of kibble pieces will bounce to the floor, but I just pick them up and put them back on the plate when I see them.
I also purchased the extra adapter to be able to plug it up, but I’m currently opting for the battery option as current place I have for it does not have great access to an outlet.
One thing, when you go to program it, the time stops counting, so you may need to go in an update the time if you make any changes. I’m currently tweaking my kitty’s feeding schedule, so I’ve had a couple of instances where it fed a minute or two “late” because the time was slow.
There are also a bunch of people who sell splitters if you need to feed 2 or 3 pets. Not an issue at my house, but I can see it being a problem for some folks.

I use this automatic feeder with my cat. Last year’s vet visit he was 18.5lbs. This year he weighed in at 15. I reduced the total daily amount I was feeding him, and have it dispensing food 3 times per day. 1/8 cup in the morning, 1/8 cup at noon and 1/4 cup in the evening. I’m sure that will be different for a lot of people though

Not dog, but we have automatic feeders for our two cats and it’s been an absolute lifesaver! We originally got them to make things easier for pet sitters (one of our cats is on a special diet, gets over excited if not fed on time and vomits, AND is terrible at ad lib feeding. He literally eats until he can’t move; we tried it once and omg the diarrhea and labored breathing ����♀️)
It can be programmed for as small as 1/8 cup and can do several times feedings throughout the day. They are battery powered (C or D, I can’t recall) and we haven’t had to change them in almost 2 years; though we will have to probably in the next month or so as it’s on it’s last bar.
I believe they are PetSafe brand and are about $135, but they have been worth every penny.

I got this one I also got a 3d printed piece that fits at the ejection port so i can feed 2 cats. You use to be able to find it on amazon but i cant seem to find it now

I had to get an automatic feeder because my cat was like the cat you describe. I tried feeding him myself for months, on a regular schedule but for some reason, that never worked for him, like he was constantly worried about where his next meal was coming from, DESPITE the regular feeding 3x a day.
So, I got him an automatic feeder. Once he realized that his food was going to come regularly, he was fine and now he just chills about food. The only pet feeder I’ve had is this Petsafe one and I got it on Amazon. It’s been about a year(10 months) with it and I love love love it. Never had any issues with it whatsoever. The batteries finally wore out 2 weeks ago. I am THRILLED with it. What other battery operated thing has the batteries last 10 months!??! And provides my cat with peace of mind, with no mechanical issues? None that I can speak of.
I can’t really think of anything you can do except possibly looking on youtube to see if other people have come up with any “hacks” to get around the clogging issues you’re having with yours. And, to also save up 5 dollars here, 10 there, until you can get enough together to get the feeder I linked to. It will be worth it.

I highly recommend trying an automatic feeder, possibly put somewhere higher than the dog can reach. Even though he is deaf, once your cat begins to realize he gets food at the same time from the feeder every day I can almost guarantee he will be right there waiting at meal times (at first you may need to show the cat the food coming out). I started using one with our cat who also would wake us up and beg incessantly for food. My cat’s behavior changed dramatically within a few days of using the feeder. She no longer cries or begs for food and she doesn’t wake me up at night anymore either. It’s a small investment that could potentially change your life! This is the model I use.

I had to go all out on one because my cat figured out walmart’s 65$ one after her first meal. She’d stick her paw in there and keep getting bits out. Here’s what i recommend, I got it and it works like a charm!

I gave up on those feeders about 6 months ago. Had one that lasted for a while but had to build a contraption from stopping the cat getting into it. that one broke, got a new one that lasted a month max.

I think we have your cat’s twin. We went the auto-feeder route too.
We looked at that one but the reviews commented that cats were finding the feeder trip and getting food all the time. So we got one that prevents that. To say it prevents self-feeding is an understatement. Can’t trip it manually and he even tried knocking it over and beating it (the lid locks).
If you have the cash I can’t recommend this one enough.

I’m going with this one. Battery life is a year, dispenses as little as 1/16th of a cup. It’s bigger than I need, but whatever.

I like this one. It’s expensive but is much easier to use than the cheaper ones which also broke after around 6 months. I think it’s more economical in the long run.

I think in life, one of the hardest things as a “manager” of something is pushing down work – its always extremely difficult and overwhelming. As a manager at work, I endlessly struggle with finding the balance between just doing something myself (where it will be done right the first time and quickly, but doesn’t improve anything long term) vs pushing the work down to someone else (meaning I have to find the time to teach them, then review the work and get them to fix it, but means in the long term this task isn’t on my plate.
Your post would indicate that you are not only the childcare manager at home, but also the household manager – and that’s just already too much, but combine that with the fact that you’re feeding your child from your body AND you’re not getting quality sleep – of course you’re at the end of your rope.
So here’s my advice: first up, tonight you’re going to lay down with LO for bed, feed her until she passes out, and then you are going to sneak away to another room (preferably really far away), you are going to put in earplugs, and you are going to download a white noise app on your phone. You are going to sleep for 5-6 hours. At that point, your husband can come get you. Your husband will be on baby duty for all of that time. If your daughter cries with him the whole time, that’s OK. Her attachment to you will not be diminished. She will suffer no ill-effects from being in the care of a trusted parent (despite your husband perhaps not being her favorite), for 5-6 hours.
Next up – if it is at all within your budget, you are to assign your husband the job of procuring a housekeeping service. Start with one time, and then visit the idea of recurring. They will handle those non-daily cleaning tasks – vacuuming/mopping the floors, wiping down the bathroom, changing the sheets, doing a good clean of the kitchen.

Now I want you to also think about the things that aren’t essential. Flowers are pretty but you and your husband are parents of a 9 month old baby. He works presumably a full time job. You’re a SAHP which is more than a full time job. Unless tending to your plants/garden is something that brings you joy, honey, let it go.
If you have tiktok, check out “domesticblisters” she is a licensed counselor who specializes in helping people who are struggling with what she calls “care tasks” (which would be like, household management shit) due to being overwhelmed, struggling with mental health or executive function, or being neurodivergent. She has a ton of great little tips and tricks and just like general motivation for feeling less shitty about doing (or not doing) care tasks. For example, one tip she has is that when you change your sheets next, layer every fitted sheet you own for your bed on there, and put multiple pillow cases on your pillows. That way, next time you need to change the sheets, you just pull a layer off. Another tip (if you want to call it that) is that if folding and putting away laundry is an overwhelming, monumental task for you – consider a change. She has a cube shelf in her laundry room where her family’s clothes are all stored (she has two young toddlers). So laundry is washed and dried, and then clothes that must be wrinkle-free are hung up, and the remainder are sorted into bins. I actually already did this before I found her, except I don’t keep our clothes in the laundry room – I still do bring the laundry upstairs and then sort it in to bins, unfolded. I’m absolutely NOT folding or hanging up my everyday clothes. Yes, I wear wrinkly t-shirts, no I do not care. Yes, some of my “drawers” might get over-stuffed on occasion. Yes, it “looks messy.” But this is a vast improvement from laundry not getting done or living in that constant cycle where you dump the clean laundry on your bed, get to bedtime and realize you’re not putting that away right now so you shove it on the floor, then repeat in the morning by putting the clothes back on your bed along with all of your hopes and dreams of handling it that day.

It has a couple of ways to help your cat. 1) You can feed him the same total amount of food but split it into smaller portions throughout the day. I’ve done that and it has eliminated the same issue with my greedy girl. 2) you can select it to slow down the kibble release which will release a few kibbles of the total amount for that feeding then a few more after a specific amount of time, and a few more till that feeding amount has been dispensed. 3) So long as you find a slow feeder that has a low enough lip, you can have it dispense the kibble into the bowl of your choosing. I think option one is the best way because it spreads out the feedings so his tummy doesn’t get totally empty between feedings which only makes him gobble faster. I went to the craft store and got one of these wooden “milk” crates and placed the automatic feeder in there because my other cat thought he could bully the feeder into giving him more food. It didn’t work but he kept knocking it over trying. I know this was a long answer but I hope it helps.
