An automatic feeder has been such a game changer for our cat too!

Just wanted to add in my rec, we’ve been really happy with this feeder. Similar to yours but with no app/connectivity

Mine isn’t screw feed, it has a turn rotating circle piece which has pockets. Each pocket fills up and empties

My sister and I got the PETLIBRO feeder from Amazon, it’s amazing. You control when they’re fed and portion size, and even leave a little message to let them know when it’s time to eat. Our cat launches herself off wherever she is when it goes off.

As for the parents issue, I feel you bc my parents also let their purebred German Shepherd get overweight and do nothing to help him and I feel so bad, you can tell he feels terrible and lethargic. Just try and be vigilant when it comes to her eating schedule, find some more interactive toys perhaps.
