I used a K65 for ages and only sold it because it’s got a non-standard bottom row so I couldn’t change the keycaps easily. There are other boards around that price range you could consider. For instance, if you’re looking for something less sleek and more gamer oriented, there is a Perixx board now (with standard bottom row) that has macros, backlighting and the numpad (though you want a TKL?) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-PX-5200-Mechanical-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B010GM7HCA/

THe K65 is great but take a look at what else is out there too.

Hi, I’m wanting to get a new keyboard. I’m in the UK, so I’m wanting a UK English layout (ISO). I’ve been having difficulty finding the keyboard I want, due to either the keyboard being too large for my desk (50cm width max preferably, although I’m using a 51cm one atm), or it only being available as an ANSI keyboard.

I’m not sure whether I want to use Brown or Red Cherry switches. Unfortunately my local store didn’t have any mechanical keyboards to try out other than the packing of the Razor Black Widow allowing it, so I’m looking into places where I can trial such things and begging friends to let me try them out. So far all I know is I hate hate HATE the clicky ones – it’s why I couldn’t go for said Black Widow.

My requirements:

ESSENTIAL:

  • At least 5 macro keys – the main reason I’m looking into a new keyboard is due to the macro keys on my keyboard not being good enough.
  • Number pad – I hate not having a number pad.
  • Arrow keys separate to number pad – saw a few combined ones, hated them.

Nice:

  • Macro Keys at top of keyboard rather than side – Helps with the width issue, although I’m fine with a keyboard with side ones if it’s still 50cm wide.
  • Media keys – useful for volume control
  • Under £100 – I would rather not spend more than this if at all possible. Not sure if it is, but I’m hoping! Even better would be under £80 but that seems more unlikely.

Irritatingly, I found the keyboard that looks good and fits nearly everything… http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-PX-5200-Mechanical-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B010GM7HCA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445722070&sr=8-1&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+red+switches

But it’s only in the US English. UK English comes with blue switches, and with me having a very light touch for typing and having difficulty typing with my boyfriend’s Logitech G19 my feeling is blue switches won’t be to my liking. Again, haven’t tried them so can’t confirm it, but from my research it looks like that’s most likely.

If anyone is able to help out, then I’d appreciate it. Been searching for quite a while and scouring your wikis and am having difficulties finding something I like.
