I have combo skin (that I used to think was just oily) with texture, CC, and PIE/PIH. Here’s my current routine:
AM: The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% (for dark spots) followed by The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane (for moisture.)
PM: Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleansing Face Wash (for makeup removal) followed by The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% followed by The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (for moisture.)
Once a week or so, I use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (for texture.)
The rose hip seed oil is the best thing to ever happen to my face. It cured my oil overproduction issue within like two weeks of nightly use. I used to need to carry powder around with me to get rid of the pools of grease on my face by midday, but now my face isn’t even shiny by the time I get home from work. My foundation stays intact all day, too. Magic, I swear. The acid peel is hands-down the best way to address texture I’ve ever tried and you can’t even see my PIE/PIH through medium-coverage foundation anymore after about 6 months of regular use. I’d characterize my PIE/PIH as moderate initially, now very mild. I don’t even own concealer anymore. My face is bright and actually glows, it’s a little eerie considering it’s never done that in my entire life. My skin has totally changed with this routine and I’d recommend it to anyone with my skin type.
I saw the routine you posted a couple days ago. I can’t speak to using a tretinoin because I’ve never used one myself, but if I’m reading this right, your current AM routine involves a cleanser, the scar gel (which looks to me like a heavy-duty moisturizer more or less,) and three different moisturizers. You might have problems with oiliness because you’re smothering your face in too many products – obviously, though, Differin is going to change your skin quite a bit and you might need this much moisture once you start it, I can’t speak to that. I really don’t think the solution to your skincare woes at this point is to add even more products, though – I think you should see how you do on the Differin for at least a couple weeks before you add or remove anything else.
