If you use a pour over for coffee, you need a gooseneck kettle so you can get the water exactly where you need.

I’ve had this since 2018. Airtight seal between the gooseneck and the kettle. Beats quickly. Digital temp dial for precision.

the oxo kettle is nice, has a small footprint with simple controls. I used to own the bonavita which was fine too but aesthetically the oxo wins. Oxo has really great customer service from my personal experience.

as far as scale issue, that would be a water issue rather than a kettle issue.

I love this OXO kettle. I bought mine from bed bath & beyond with a 20% off coupon so that might currently be a better deal than amazon.

Do you have your heart set on a Stagg? I recently was in a similar boat but landed on Oxo’s offering. Used with a 20% off coupon to Bed Bath and Beyond and you can get them for around $80.

Heats really fast, great accuracy, excellent pour, and doesn’t have the metal ring that burns the heck out of your hand like the top of the Stagg handle =).

They all do pretty much the same thing. The Stagg is slightly more convoluted to use than something like the Bonavita due to it having only one button for everything but that’s a minor quibble at best.

It comes down to whether you’re willing to pay the premium for the aesthetics. I went with the OXO instead as it looks just as good but costs way less. It hits boiling in almost half the time of my old Bonavitas too.

After reading some other reviews and comments here (thanks!), I canceled the order on that product and purchased the OXO one. I think it’s a big improvement over the Bonavita in terms of build quality and ease of use.

This one has some pretty stellar reviews on Amazon and is at $60:

And this goose egg one from OXO looks nice but pricey:

All these links are non-affiliated as well! I’m leaning towards the first one, it has 4.8 stars but the one you linked is also very well rated.

Any recs for an electric kettle to improve the consistency of my pourovers? Two that caught my eye were the Oxo and the Bonavita though the Bonavita is tempting since it’s like $60 cheaper. My budget tops out around $200 though it’s not firm and I’m mostly after the best value. I don’t need more than a 1L capacity.

This makes gongfu brewing a breeze. It has all of the features you mention, and they replace it if anything goes wrong. (Available on Amazon as well.)

Here’s an Amazon link. I waited around for a bed bath and beyond coupon to get it cheaper since the price looked the same everywhere.

Oxo gooseneck. All stainless steel except for the signature Oxo silicone handle and the top of the lid which has a silicone handle, but underneath the lid is all stainless steel.

I just purchased this kettle and I absolutely love it. It’s on sale on Amazon, too.

I almost purchased the Fellow Stagg EKG but aside from being aesthetically-pleasing, I can’t justify the price. I’ve also heard of the handle randomly falling off after a few uses.

current favorite mid-priced electric kettle . This kettle is one button but let’s you turn a dial to any temperature between 104F and boiling. It’s got a great feature where if you return the kettle to the base within 30 seconds of removing it’ll keep the water at the temperature you specified for up to 30 mins.

The gooseneck has been great for use with a gaiwan and pouring gently over more delicate teas.

Id recommend an electric kettle with a variable temp over one that’s just boiling or not simply because it’s just a nice feature to have when it’s a bit more work and practice to judge the temp ofwater from a simple stovetop kettle.

this Fellow Stagg kettle is much sleeker but also much pricier

Awesome! I’ll definitely take a look at that as well. Is it this one?

Yeah, this is what I’ve got now– SO much easier to control, and way easier to work with. Less clean up, too. Love it!

Oxo just released a variable temperature kettle and it looks really nice! Maybe this should be an option too.
