They come in a variety of forms including one that sits right in a carafe with a Chemex style collar, etc

Sorry…one more. I’ve been using this one for years and just love it. IMHO it is much more flavorful than paper because allows the oils to pass why still giving a paper like clean cup. Zero fines in the cup. In fact they just started making basket shaped ones, which I now use in my bonavita drip coffee maker. A game changer to me. Nothing like the old gold filters.
