Not sure what your price range is but if it’s in the $200-$300 range, you could try the OPPO HA-2 DAC/amp or the Cayin Spark C5 DAC/amp.

I’m looking to buy a standalone or amp/DAC combo for my HE400i arriving tomorrow. Four options I was looking at were the Schiit stack (uber or not?), the O2+ODAC combo, JDS Labs Element, and the OPPO HA-2 but I would appreciate second opinions.

Alternatively I can do something like amp + $250 DAC or $250 amp + DAC.

Budget – Ideally I’d like to spend no more than $300 before taxes – I could probably stretch that budget by $50 if need be – and I would much prefer to buy via Amazon but I don’t expect to. :s

Source – For the most part this’ll be connected to my desktop/laptop and I’d like to be able to use with my phone (Nexus 6P) as well but not necessary.

I’ll be using these for the HE400i and for my ATH-IM03 and probably a Sennheiser HD6x0 since I’m a weak man.

Preferred tonal balance – I think I want to go for a neutral amp/DAC.

Preferred Music

I’ll listen to anything although lately I’ve been listening to primarily rock but I also listen to pop, country, very little rap, some metal, some j/k-pop.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up

I currently have the GeekOut 720 and I’m extremely limited in using it on my laptop/desktop as it tends to get warm and sometimes pretty hot.

Location – Shopping in the US, would prefer buying new from an authorized dealer.

Seeing as it’s sold out and/or out of stock on nearly every website, including Oppo’s (Amazon here has them for over $430), I’d expect to get at least $230 for it seeing as it has been so unused.

Will take time to take and provide photos as soon as I get some serious offers.
