I keep mine a few feet away, on top of the toilet. I don’t want to risk splashes or high humidity, from being too close or too high up. I use this $20, water resistant Bluetooth speaker right in the shower with me. I listen to podcasts, and it works as a speaker phone, if someone calls. It sounds great.

I have the exact same problem with my Jetta. About three days after the buyback was announced the entire stack went dead. I bought one of these to get my through until November. You can’t rock out on it but it works great for podcasts and stuff, which is 75% of what I listen to anyway. The battery lasts about 12 hours but recharges with a mini-USB so you could have the cable in the car ready to go if it dies mid-trip.

A 90 dollar portable bluetooth speaker for the price of 30 on Amazon. They are absolutely amazing because they can serve as computer speakers, or bluetooth whenever I like. They’re built for using them in tough outdoor conditions as well. Great shower speaker too. Maybe go with a waterproof speaker. I don’t own that one just saw it on a quick search.
