Strong and cheap- you can mount whatever headboard you want. Zinus makes all kinds of bed stuff. Check them out on Amazon

Actually, the box spring is often what goes wrong with a bed. A broken board in the box spring (because a box spring is NOT actually made of any springs at all) is often the reason a mattress starts sinking in. The wood used to build a box spring is thin and breaks easily. Every bed I have ever had with a box spring usually ends up with at least one broken board.

Personally, I no longer use a box spring at all. I have a frame that doesn’t require a box spring and I purchase an extra thick mattress.

You can get bed frames in a variety of heights which means you can decide how tall or short your bed is.

I have this frame in the 14 inch height for one of my bedrooms and in an 18 inch height for another of my bedrooms. By the time you add a mattress that is 12 inches thick, that is a pretty average height for a bed. Also, the higher frame makes using the space under the bed for storage much easier.
