It sounds like the kid is not well raised and that your sister doesn’t set an boundaries and rules.

Also, parents are infected with viruses up to 85% of the year, so kids are basically plague rats.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic, sharing food is a bad idea for everyone.

However, it’s not healthy for you to not be eating, so let’s solve that problem.

Do you have your own room? If so, consider setting up a mini-fridge, table and a if possible small microwave in your room and explore food you would enjoy eating that you can make in your room. If you can’t do a microwave or need to hide things, there are options like an electric kettle that boils water, a small rice cooker, even a tiny little immersion heater that let’s you heat up water for tea or coffee or instant soup (try to get healthier versions than crap ramen). Like this https://www.amazon.com/Instant-Immersion-Electric-Portable-Reheater/dp/B01M0Q84BR

There are tons of options, and not all of them are unhealthy crap food. You can make a basic salad with chickpeas from a can, get frozen veggies that steam in a bag in a microwave, sandwiches, dried fruits and nuts, etc.

You could also try and plan ahead and fry up some tofu ahead of time, then keep it in the minifridge and throw into a salad or soup in your room.

Immersion boiler could be a low cost space saving alternative to a mini kettle

If you’re just doing small amounts of liquid, maybe an immersion heater?

Electric, fast, and about $12.

Toy can get an Immersion heater from Amazon or Walmart (or many other places) to heat up water for ramen or other soups. You could also make tea, etc. It’s small enough that it’s not a hassle to travel with, but cheap enough that it’s not a big deal to abandon. Just don’t leave it plugged in when you’re done with it and make sure you have a safe place to set it down until it cools.

>They can’t be sold any more because people kept burning themselves or setting things on fire.

I posted a link to a Norpro one, identical to the OP’s photo, for sale on Amazon.

I have one and it’s been pretty great so far. I did have to watch some YouTube videos to get it right though. I had some instances where the water would bubble up and spill everywhere when lifting the arms. The flair seems to be a lot more straightforward. With either the flair or rok I would recommend an immersion heater like this https://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Instant-Electric-Immersion-Heater/dp/B01M0Q84BR so you can ensure temps are where you want them to be. I did stop using it in favor of a portapresso Rossa pg air though.

An immersion boiler would be the smallest and cheapest thing, so long as you have a bowl/vessel to cook in. Less than $10. Just don’t ever plug it in without it being in water or let it boil dry, or it will blow out almost instantly.

If you look closely it’s actually connected to a heating coil. Looks like you place it directly in the mug like this.

EDIT: From Amazon.

Try a cheap immersion heater. Stick it in your mug until hot, then dump your instant coffee in.

There are immersion heaters, but they’re pretty brute-force, and not USB: https://www.amazon.com/Instant-Immersion-Electric-Portable-Reheater/dp/B01M0Q84BR

That is not really a “coffee machine”. That coil is a simple device that’s made to boil water, like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Instant-Immersion-Electric-Portable-Reheater/dp/B01M0Q84BR

Electric immersion heater. I use it everyday for tea and to make rice in a Thermos.

They are not all alike. this one is the 120v 300w. Don’t get a 12v.

You can get immersion heaters like these:

Next road trip I do, I’ll probably pick one up. Just make sure the size will work for your vessel.

I have never tried one of these, but this is the most compact type I have ever seen. They are called immersion heaters. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0Q84BR

Immersion heater

Just be careful to only plug it in when it’s immersed, and unplug it before removing it from the water. Also helpful to keep it attached to a switch.

Yes you will need to preheat to get a good shot. See his video https://youtu.be/qEKC7x1AUB4. You can also use an immersion heater to get it to the right temp https://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Instant-Electric-Immersion-Heater/dp/B01M0Q84BR.

I haven’t tried using cool water but I wouldn’t expect it to be good.
