Yup, my physical a couple years ago showed I was vitamin D deficient. I started taking one of these every morning (vitamin D is oil-soluble and these gel caps use olive oil as a base, so the body absorbs them better). I went back for re-testing three months later and my vitamin D levels were completely normal.

Pretty much everyone has a deficiency unless they spend a ton of time outdoors and eat a lot of fish. Just get a quality supplement. These are good and are very highly rated on Amazon:

Amazon, here’s what I actually got. I have absolutely no idea if it is sold in DE (you’re in Germany, right?) I don’t actually care about the organic certification all that much, but it was the most economical choice.

As for the actual dosage, there was some research posted on /r/fitness a little while back saying that the recommend dosages for Vitamin D may have been way under. The source seemed to not be total BS, so I figured I’d give it a higher does supplement a try for the winter at least. I was having some serious problems with not being able to wake up well and feeling incredibly tired no matter how much I actually slept, and I’ve definitely had an improvement in that realm. It may be placebo, but if it works, whatever.

Hello! I was in a similar boat. A little back story I’m 26, fairly healthily individual who works out and eats right often. I had an issue where no matter how much sleep I got, I always felt exhausted and ready to take a nap around 3-5pm everyday. I started taking these Vitamin D before bed every night and it’s helped a ton. I went to get a blood test and nothing came back weird so that’s why I started trying different things in the first place. I hope this helps.

This is the stuff I take and it’s free of all that garbage you mentioned. It’s D3, and as others mentioned, that means it’s animal-derived . BTW, most people do not get enough vitamin d from the sun alone. I live in Arizona in the US, where it’s sunny all but like 16 days a year, and I still don’t get enough according to the doc lol

I take 5000 iu and it’s the size of a pea. I took a blood test back at the end of May and then had another recently last month. I went from a deficient to really good levels the doctor said. Sorry I don’t have exact numbers.

Here is what I take.

I assume you’re talking about this study:

https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-21211/v1

They compared mean vitamin-d levels of entire countries and compared that to the number and severity of COVID19 cases.

It’s much more likely that vitamin-d deficiency has a strong correlation with old age. Elderly people in their 70s and 80s tend to spend more time indoors than young people.

In any case, if you’re worried about vitamin-d deficiency you can buy a year’s supply of supplements on Amazon for $15.
