You can’t use Bluetooth, but it does support USB audio so something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-S150-Speakers-Digital-Sound/dp/B000ZH98LU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1496959756&sr=1-2&keywords=usb+speaker might work.
Warning: I have not tried anything like that, I just know that plenty of USB headsets work fine on the PS4.
- Edit – initial speaker link I provided was just USB power, not USB audio.

Logitech has a pair of very cheap usb speakers that are said to work by some users on the ps4. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-S150-Speakers-Digital-Sound/dp/B000ZH98LU
I doubt it will be much worse than the speakers in a laptop and you wont need to strip the audio off of hdmi in that case. It has to be usb speakers that receive audio from usb and not just powered by usb. I am going to see if my audio engine a2+ speakers will work on it. They show up as generic audio devices under every os I have used them in when using the usb dac.
Edit: the audio engine a2+ works so I assume anything that is a class complaint usb audio interface will work.

If you’re going cheap a pair of Logitech speakers will do the trick.
For $12 you can get these but don’t expect much in the way of sound quality. Even if you aren’t regularly using them for music you would easily be able to tell the difference between these and a pair of $30 speakers in games and movies.

Speakers like this: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-S150-Speakers-Digital-Sound/dp/B000ZH98LU
USB is better insulated against static noise and you will be getting a pure digital signal vs 3.5mm jacks on the back or front of the system if your board does not have a optical output option.

I bring my PS4 to work and I simply connect it to a 22″ work monitor using a HDMI-to-DVI cable. However, for sound I picked up a pair if USB Speakers from Amazon. You’ll have to go into the settings to make them work but the PS4 see’s them as headphones and unfortunately the only way to adjust the volume is by using the PS4 device settings but if you press and hold the PS button while in a game, there’s a shortcut to the device audio settings which is nice.

at a thrift store yesterday. Would those work?
