I use a 6500K LED lamp; sort of like this one:

Ideally, it should let you set it to 6500K because that’s pure white; other temperature values will affect they way you perceive colors.

To adjust brightness, you can always check reviews and see what setting they used in the OSD to get to their calibrated brightness. The value shouldn’t vary significantly from unit to unit.
