Honestly in that case, there is no need to get expensive headphones. My last pair of these (https://www.amazon.com/Koss-T55959-UR-20-Home-Headphones/dp/B00005N9D3/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=over+ear+headphones&qid=1629150192&refinements=p_36%3A1253503011&rnid=386442011&s=electronics&sr=1-12) lasted me almost 5 years, they’re comfortable and they sound good.

They’re not audiophile grade, but for the price they’re fantastic. I would only rate them slightly worse than my DT 770’s (which were almost 10x the price).

Another big head here, similarly rarely find a hat that fits in any size. I’ve been using Koss UR-20‘s – pretty comfortable, nice frequency response. Not a ton of isolation, but better than earbuds.

I know what you mean by the inside of the ear hurt. If you reroute the earbuds from the top through the straps for each ear, it will not irritate your ear holes and works pretty good. I recommend you try rerouting.

I just got some cheap over the ear headphones from Koss today. I can try them out a little later and let you know if they are worth using with the HMD.

If you are going to get the adapter, then get these, They are less than 20 bucks and blow any other headphones waay out of the water. Sound quality is excellent and it works with the chat adapter. It doesn’t have a microphone, but if you want one of those get a y splitter and hook an external mic up. even a $10 microphone will have better quality sound than any aftermarket headset combo kits will.

Koss UR20 are amazing! They’re the second “real” headphones I’ve got and I’m glad I’ve got them.

They’re pretty big, but that’s an advantage for me, because of my big ears. I can’t really comment on the sound (but I think it’s pretty good), because I’m mostly using them or some cheap ear-buds.

As a side note (I noticed you were looking for replacements in your post history), I would recommend new ones since the longevity of the HD201s can’t be really guaranteed.

My suggestion would be these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005N9D3

Need help with a comfort/fit question on a budget.

Recently acquired some MDR7506 cans for amateur music production, and have been carrying them to work to listen to music at my desk. Realized I don’t want to break my nice headphones because I’m poor and can’t really afford to replace them, so I need something cheaper I can abuse a little without too much worry.

Bought the Sennheiser HD202 on Amazon because they were the “Best Seller” under $25, and I hated the way they fit, literally returned them a couple hours later.

Any recommendations on cheap, durable, okay-sounding cans that fit more like the MDR7506, and preferably less than $25 shipped? The Koss UR-20, Behringer HPX2000, or Behringer HPM1000 all kinda look like they fit the bill, but I’d like to get some opinions or recommendations if possible.

EDIT: What about the JVC HARX300 or the HARX500? Would I be going wrong there?

Hey guys, I hope it’s okay to ask really basic questions here. Please direct me somewhere else if it’s not.

I record a little music on my own (not even close to professional) and am learning about editing and producing it. I’ve heard people say that you want a good pair of monitors, to properly be hearing what you’re making. I have a bit of money now so I’d like to upgrade to something that’s budget but better than what I have now.

I’m sure you’ll get a laugh from what I’m using now (and it should give you an idea of how little I know). I’m using these speakers that I just have left over from when I was in highschool ages ago. My headphones are these things. I record through, and have my speakers/headphones go through a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

I’m mostly looking at getting a new pair of speakers. Would that be the one thing to get to most improve the sound I hear? I’m sure the headphones are crap as well, but I’ll get to those at some point. Is the Scarlett 2i2 okay for now?

One more really stupid question… My 2i2 has jacks at the back and a dial at the front for the monitor. What’s the difference between the monitor and normal speakers? This says that monitors are supposed to have a really flat response and be high quality. Would they also be good for listening to music (not stuff I’m making)?

thank you, any advice is appreciated!

edit: shit, one more thing. I assumed the 2i2 had an internal amplifier for the monitor, but looking at the manual it talks about using an external one for the monitor, so I’m guessing I’d have to get an amp too?

I’ve been using these headphones for computer/metal detecting for 6 years now, bought a 2nd set that I still haven’t taken out of the box yet. They’re awesome! Buy the 6.5mm adapter if you need it.

Sound quality is great for the price, cord length is very long (makes it nice when you put down the detector you don’t have to take the headphones off).

Yep, spam filter really hates referral links. Incidentally, your current link isn’t working for me, might wanna use this one instead.
