That’s an affiliate link. Please edit in a regular Amazon link like this one.
The R-14M drops down to $99 pretty often. I would never buy it for the $200 MSRP.

Do these work with Audiotechnica LP120? Noob here looking for speakers for family member. Thanks!
·
I’m currently using a 2.1 setup, using an old stereo with it’s stock sub, and a pair of Klipsch R-14m speakers. I need to move to a 2.0 system since I need a new stereo. However, my speakers naturally have no bass when I unplug a sub. How should I adapt to using no sub, OR is there speakers that have more bass than mine that are around $100 a pair? I’m ok with the quality of the speakers but the lack of bass in my 2.0 is pretty crippling.
·
You’re welcome. That cable is the same one I use in my system. You also picked a better sub, nice work.
I recommend these speakers. I have them myself.
·
I think someone else mentioned them, but these are not efficient speakers. These are only 85db. (Sensitivity 85dB 1W/1M). These should be higher, 89db or more.
Klipsch makes good speakers with high sensitivity. Here is one example, for $99, black friday special I guess.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I think forgoing the rear speakers would probably be a good move here — it just seems like it’s not worth it for the price. Do receivers exist without all the bells and whistles, or even a bluray player? I just really need something that will drive the speakers and I can piper audio to from the TV.
On a side note, this Klipsch set seems to be well regarded and is super cheap!

Thank you. Same deal on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-R-14M-Reference-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B00MGQAH2M

I would do what I did:

1) Use passive speakers (don’t have to worry about noise from computer – as much).
2) Get a decent amp and DAC. I use a tube amp and a Divlpoetry DAC.

I have these Klipsch’s – I got them for $83 from a 3rd party vendor at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MGQAH2M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?

Tube amp: $204 delivered (Ebay seller- more now) – https://www.ebay.com/itm/HiFi-6H8C-Push-6p1-Vacuum-Tube-Amplifier-Single-Ended-Stereo-Power-Amp-6-8W-2/162345861710?
Speakers: $83
Cheap Azz DAC: $42 – https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0769FFVF3/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Something like $330 or so?

I use some other stuff too (Tube preamp, another preamp, an EQ). But the above will totally get you good clean and clear sound at moderate volumes. This is from my own personal experience.

>Heco Victa Prime 202
I think I made my descision:
Subwoofer: Magnat Tempus 302A
Amplifier: Nobsound G3
Speakers: I feel more attracted to the Klipsch R-14M 4-Inch
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MGQAH2M, Are these also a good buy you think?

What outputs does your TV have? Does it have an optical or coaxial digital out? Using that would be preferable to TV RCA outputs if you’re able to squeeze a component with its own DAC into the budget.
I’d look at a class D integrated amp (2x50w or a bit more) with a remote and some bookshelf speakers. Choice of Miccas, Pioneer BS21, etc. There’s a couple models of Klipsch bookshelves you could sneak into the budget. High efficiency speakers would be good if you need to really jam out. klipsch1 klipsch2
Fosi Class D as example
Amp works as a BT target as a bonus feature.
I haven’t heard this specific integrated amp but I do have an older Fosi 2x50w class D amp.link I wasn’t very impressed when I had it hooked up to a laptop line out and Pioneer BS21s, but my opinion improved significantly when I fed the same amp and speakers from the pre-out of my Schiit Hel this spring, so if you give it a clean source the Fosi class D should do pretty well.

Ok, then we do need some good, loud/clear speakers and a decent amp. In this price range for TV/Movies I would go with one of these……
Klipsch R14M – $116
Polk S15 – $140
Or if you have the space…..
Sony SSCS5 – $118
Bic DV62 – $118
Amplifier
Topping MX3 – $130
SMSL AD13 – $82

Will there be a subwoofer in the cards for the future? The Klipsh R14-M, Pioneer SP-BS22-LR, and Micca MB42X are best when paired with one.
·
You probably don’t need the DAC, honestly. Save your money and put it towards the speakers.
Get one of these:

And your choice of $200 worth of speakers. Maybe these?

any way to get a decent center for these for under $150?
more for these instead of the r-15s
·
·
Get these, you won’t beat it for the price.

I’m looking in the $100-$150 range for some powered speakers to fill a small-medium sized living and dining area. I’d prefer to spend what I have now on decent speakers and worry about a DAC and/or amp later. That being said I’m looking for help on a decision between the:
-suggested Micca PB/MB42x setup,
-equally priced on amazon Klipsch r14 pair
-the ever popular 2.1 Swan M10 setup currently available for $95 on massdrop.
Any other suggestions are welcome, especially bluetooth compatibility, but I’ll most likely be adding a chromecast audio to the speakers. Thanks for the help.

Truthfully, it’d be better to save up for a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, which often goes on sale for $100 throughout the year. Great for either a PC or TV, also I love the subwoofer. I’ve personally never liked soundbars that much, because I do not find the quality as good.
I’ve heard good things about these Klipsch R-14M Bookself Speakers and Klipsch Icon KB-15 Bookshelf Speakers too. Both are $100 for a pair, I haven’t heard them in person before though, so I can’t really provide a personally opinion.
