You have to take everything you read with a grain of salt. Many articles depicting studies of “low carb diets” are NOT keto diets. Some studies have used meal plans that provided 30% energy from carbs, 25% energy from proteins, 45% energy from fats. Those particular researchers considered this diet as a “high fat low carb diet”, when in reality we know that in a true keto diet, carb calories should be always lower than 10%, preferably around 5%.
Those researchers found that “high fat low carb diets” are very bad for you, when in reality we would categorise this as a “high carb high fat”.
I hope the above makes sense. Before starting keto, I read a very eye-opening book (also a very well documented book, looking more like a Masters Thesis), at the insistence of a friend who lost 20kg(44lbs) with keto. If you are interested, the book can be found on Amazon: USA or UK
