Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Girl, I totally understand where you’re coming from. I didn’t clear up my hormonal acne until I went to a naturopath. She prescribed me the Rodan and Fields acne kit, but the whole thing together ended up being too much for me. I ended up only using the face wash and that was good enough. I switched to Kate Somerville instead this year when Rodan and Fields changed their formula and it works just as well.

I think I would consider first what is making you break out. Is it your upcoming period? Is it a reaction to food? For me, it’s usually stress and dairy. Sometimes I get pimples right before my period.

My skin type is mostly oily. I use a medicated cleanser once a day, at night with a Foreo Luna mini 3. Honestly, the Foreo just feels like a fancy device, but it lets me know how long I should scrub for and that was worth the money to me. Because I can get kind of lazy and not really put in the work.

After that, I put on jojoba oil, which mimics sebum and tricks my skin into thinking it’s already oily enough.

Two to three times a week I will cleanse my face twice with the Foreo, then wash off the cleanser and put on a clay mask with ACV and water. Your face gets BRIGHT RED after this, but it goes away with time, so don’t be alarmed if you do this. It’s normal.

After that, I will put on a hydrating face mask for 10-15 minutes. Wash that off and end with jojoba oil.

In the mornings, I do not wash my face. I splash with water and then put on rose oil, moisturizer and sunscreen.

Because I’m getting older, I’m going to start incorporating more products such as retinoids and vitamin C to keep my skin looking youthful. I just haven’t started that yet.

When I do get a pimple that won’t go away, I use a spot treatment and sometimes a pimple patch and leave it on overnight. Usually will go away within 2-3 days.

So here’s a breakdown of what I do, plus the products I use…

Daily AM:

  1. Splash face with lukewarm water. Either pat dry or leave water on face.
  2. Moisturize with rose oil (I use a generic brand)
  3. Layer with this moisturizer after 10 minutes
  4. Finish with sunscreen (I use Neutrogena)

Daily PM:

  1. Cleanse with this face wash (the active ingredient is sulfur, which is the only thing that’s really worked for me) and I use the Foreo Luna Mini 3. Note: you just need a pea size of this cleanser, it’s quite powerful and a little expensive.
  2. Retinol. I haven’t found one that I’m keen on yet and these are powerful, so I’m going slowly with them.
  3. Jojoba oil.

2-3x through out the week:

  1. Do step 1 of the Daily PM twice. I scrub gently though!!
  2. Mix this mask w/ a capful of apple cider vinegar and apply to skin. A little goes a LONG WAY, so you don’t need much of this. Add in water as needed to make a thick paste. It will make your face pulse and tighten your skin, that’s all normal!
  3. After I wash that off, I apply this moisturizing mask.
  4. Wash that off and then add on jojoba oil (same as above).

When I need to get rid of a pimple fast, I use a dab of this zit stick. Again, a little bit goes a long way! It will quickly dry out your skin, too, so be careful with it!

That’s all for the surfacial stuff. The hormonal stuff is a little harder, as you have to know what’s causing the acne. For me, it was stress and dairy. Simple enough– cut out the dairy and relax, right? Nope! Dairy was easy enough for me, but then sugar also made my skin break out! So I had to lower my sugar intake. And stress is just a normal part of life. The supplements that I take do keep things at bay. I’ve heard that zinc is a good supplement, but do be careful with using anything without doing your own research!

I hope this helps. Let me know if you want me to clarify anything!

It is a bit spendy but all you need is less than a pea to wash your face and you are golden.
