I listened to the ZX-660s the other day and found them too bassy, and was considering a couple of others: the earlier version, ZX-600, sometimes it’s around $30 to $40 in used listings on Ebay or more like $50 – $60 new. They might be good? Also was considering Beyerdynamic DTX-350, around $44 on Amazon sometimes, though Tyll’s review said they were bassy. A lot of portable phones are to block out ambient sound.

I mention the 600 because a lot of people complained it didn’t have enough bass. The Noontec Zoro II is supposed to be good (according to Inner Fidelity) and go closer to $100 new but are cheaper used on eBay. But they look like they’re for a kid market.

For a low-priced on-ear closed type headphone that sounds decent get the JVC HAS160B (“flats”), I think around $11 to $14. My ears didn’t quite like them though because of the way it didn’t seal against them..
