Whats good everyone, I’m looking for a subwoofer to couple with my JBL Professional 1’s. My budget is ~150 USD. Any recommendations?

I have a set of JBL 1 Series 104’s and I really like them. They won’t tear your face off, and sound good at low volumes too. They’re powered too so you can just plug em into your PC, or if you have an amp with pre-outs, just plug them into that. They’re also on a really good deal through Amazon rn.

/r/buildapc may suggest cheap crap to make noises at you, but as has been said, get headphones. A pair of Koss KPH30i look and cost like cheap crap but sound amazing.

They really shouldn’t send someone with a $30 budget here, because budget audiophile or not, you can’t get anything for $30 that doesn’t sound like garbage, speaker-wise. If you must, figure out what Logitech or Creative sells for $30 and buy that. It will suck, but it will make noise.

Amazon does have a bunch of PC speakers at $30 or less, but they’re mostly noise makers at that price point. I mean, a set of Creative Pebble 2.0 for $20 will probably make fairly pleasant noise, so you can get speakers. Just not anything remotely audiophile, budget or otherwise. But go to Amazon.com and search for computer speakers at $30 or less, and then sort on most expensive first. When you start seeing brand names that are at least recognizable, like Creative, Logitech, Edifier, look at those.

At $100 or a little over you start getting sound that’s actually good. For example, https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Professional-Reference-Monitors-JBL104/dp/B07MHQZV62

https://www.amazon.co.uk/JBL-Compact-Powered-Reference-Monitors/dp/B07MHQZV62 should be a solid choice in that price range. Not non-stop orgasms every time, but it should crush what you have.

If you were to open up the budget some more there would be even more convincing choices. I’m personally more of a passive speaker and amp kind of guy, I think it gives more flexibility, but amp and speakers combined for £100 won’t be any kind of upgrade to what you have, even if what you have is dogshit in a bag. 🙂 £200-300 is a more realistic price point to get a good entry level amp (with digital in and a DAC) and speakers, I would say, that are straight-up good.

You don’t have to spend that much though.

You can get really decent sound for your $100-ish budget. Some JBL 104 Series 1 for instance. $129 off Amazon.

There are also some Edifier variants that might work.

Now, if you do go to $600 for a pair of Vanatoo Transparent 1 Encore, they’ll kick a great deal of butt, but that’s quite a leap up from your $5 crapfest. The JBL is already quite a major step up.

Might not get all the way there for that amount of money but maybe a little more.

Since you said Euros, I’ll link to Amazon Germany.

No subwoofer so obviously they won’t shake the house, but they should do quite well in the bass department considering the size and above all sound very good.

I’m going to blithely ignore your 50 euros and suggest these: https://www.amazon.de/JBL-JBL104-104-Multimedia-Set/dp/B07MHQZV62/

Sure, they cost a little more than you want. They also produce sound that’s actually enjoyable.

Although in all honesty, what I’d buy myself if I needed a set of PC speakers and had to stay under $250 would probably be this.

If you don’t like bass, turn the bass down…

Granted, Edifiers get you more features like Bluetooth.
