I’m planning to use the aha after using my hada labo gokujyun foaming cleanser (pH~5.5). Would that be a good pH? Do I have to /should I use a toner before the mizon 8% peeling aha?

I also have this serum . Is this a retinol? It also includes salicylic acid.

I use this one. Started seeing results in little under a month. And yea, it should be a clear, milky color. I keep mine in a refrigerator to keep it good.

This one by InstaNatural. I was slightly skeptical to be honest, because I noticed some serums and skincare products from lesser known brands on Amazon tend to have a LOT of compensated reviews (ie. people writing positively about the product because they received it free or at a discount). There were a few of those peppered in here and there for this one but, holy crap, I’m glad I bought it anyway. It definitely plays a part in smoothing down my milia. My skin loves it. Whatever they’re doing to combine the retinol, vit c, niacinamide and salicylic acid in this glorious formula, I hope they never change cause it’s only been a couple weeks in but I already see a repurchase in my future.

The particular Vitamin C I was using had 2.5% Retinol added in (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NY5NGPE).

When using retinol / tretinoin /Retin-A it basically thins your outermost layer of skin by removing dead skin cells to promote new skin growth. Without that protective shield (or a thinner one) the wax used may, at worst, completely peel your skin off, or best case leave it extremely raw and “burn-like” sensations.

I was told to not use the product for 2 weeks to be safe if I wanted to do waxing and that simply avoiding my eyebrow area is not enough because it would seep/expand outwards from the applied area. They mentioned the alternatives are regular old tweezing or that some other salons offer “threading” which involves using cotton thread to remove several hairs at once vs one at a time via tweezing.

(someone feel free to correct my understanding of retin-a, that’s how it has been explained to me)

A little off-topic but: I read your arguments against OST and I’m convinced! I’m trying to find a (relatively cheap) serum with Vitamin E and ferulic acid, and this one from Amazon looks promising, although I don’t entirely trust the reviews: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NY5NGPE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p194_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-3&pf_rd_r=06N82G11P7295Z5SFJ00&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970566782&pf_rd_i=desktop

However, it has a ph around 7 – would that be too high to be effective, or it is just too high in general? Thanks.

Is my serum OK?

I bought this serum a while back, but has got a different/older bottle. I got bedazzaled by it containing vit C, Retinol, niacinamide AND salicylic acid (a sucker for all-in-1). However I am unsure if it is good anymore as it isn’t clear, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t when I first opened it! And if it’s not, is it just the Vitamin C that has gone bad and can I still use it for the other ingredients, or should I throw it away?

Here is what it looks like, a slight yellow cast I guess, but it seems to turn clear upon contact with the skin

I couldn’t find an expiry date :/

Thanks u/iamnoking and u/RosieODonnell I think I’m going to go for this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NY5NGPE?psc=1 waiting three weeks for such a volatile product doesn’t seem the best idea. I can get this one tomorrow

I mean just a cleanser that is specifically meant for the face. The only one I know of off the top of my head that is the proper pH and available at most drugstores is CeraVe Hydrating whatever. It’s one I haven’t used myself, though, so I can’t technically recommend it. My personal favorite is the Missha Super Aqua Fresh Cleansing Milk.

The vit. C serum I use is this one off Amazon. My anti-aging serum is the Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Borabit Ampoule. This is a “dupe” of the Estee Lauder Night Repair serum. Since Missha is a Korean brand, that link is to a Korean online retailer, so be warned of long shipping times and international shipping prices if you choose to order.

I really recommend subscribing to /r/AsianBeauty. Most of what I know about skincare I learned there.

I’m currently using this Vitamin C serum which also contains niacinimide 🙂 This is Instanatural’s other Vitamin C serum with some other good stuff.
