My experience has been that the base of the retinol product matters quite a bit. Some retinol treatments break me out because I’m sensitive to some of the other ingredients in the formulation (fatty alcohols, in my case). The PC 1% treatment has a pretty length ingredients list, so I wouldn’t really be able to comment on what could be irritating you. I’d suggest to keep up with your healing routine until your skin is better and you can find another retionol (or tretinoin) product that might be suitable for you, and then test that out – only if you’re still interested in retinol. I recently came across this instanaturals retinol serum on SCA, which looks very interesting.

Also, perhaps look into pH adjusting toners so that the efficacy of your chosen BHA/AHA product has a better chance of coming through. That, and perhaps look at different brands for BHA/AHA. I’ve also heard others complain about the oiliness of PC BHA.

While everyone reacts different to the Benton Snail Bee Essence, I’ve had a lot of success using it with respect to calming down an irritated face / fading PIH. The latter is probably due to the arbutin content in it though, rather than the snail filtrate. I hope it works out for you.

In any case, if things persist and it’s not looking good then perhaps a visit to the derm or your family doctor might be beneficial.

Good luck!

I’m currently using this similar product from Insta Natural:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q301WXK/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1432658483&sr=1&keywords=retinol+vitamin+c+hyaluronic+acid

I don’t know how relevant my feedback will be. I don’t have any skin problems, I just use retinol and vitamin C for anti-aging. I can tell you that it absorbs nicely, has a bit of an orange scent, and hasn’t caused any irritation. Whether it’s effective against wrinkles is hard to tell. I’m 33 so we’ll see how I look at 43. I don’t know if it will help PIH.

I just purchased:

Insta Natural: Retinol Serum – Anti Wrinkle Anti Aging Facial Serum — Amazon Link

Mountain Falls Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin — Amazon Link

Acne Treatment and Anti-Aging Peel Pads for Face & Body, Treats Multiple Skin Care Issues :: With Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid — Amazon Link

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Water Resistant and Non-Greasy Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 45 — Amazon Link

Problems: Mild Acne, Redness. Acne and Redness around the nose.

I got no idea what skin type I am. I have been working on taking better care of myself and have been doing a lot of stuff this past year. I figure I should also start taking care of my skin.

Now, I have no idea what I am doing besides have done some basic reading, long story short, in what order would I use these products? I understand there might be some different orders but I have really no idea. I am looking to just apply these to my face except for the acne pads which will be used for both face and body. Also, is there something that I may have missed? Is there a product that goes good with these? Or are there better products? I understand that skin care products can be fairly subjective but I am still open for suggestions in case these do not work out.
