There are lots of automatic litter boxes out there. The fanciest one that I know of is one that has a big drum that rotates to sift out the litter. Those run about $500 though. The one I have is a circular pan that rotates, and has a sifting ramp that moves the clumps up a conveyor to a bin. That’s not a great description, so here’s the amazon link:
The biggest complaint people seem to have with this model is that the motors burn out after a year, since it runs continuously. Putting a timer on the plug so that it only runs a few hours a day is said to help that. I personally have mine on a Wemo plug, and it runs 4 times a day on a schedule. I also turn it on whenever I see that one of my 2 cats have used it.

My cats peed in it immediately, it is a bit bigger than an average box. I know there are mixed reviews but it is amazing for me. And their customer service is awesome.

Amazon sells a litter box that self cleans. It’s awesome! We had our litter box in our dining room at our last place and never smelled it! You still have to empty a basket at the back, but with 2 cats, I only scoop and change the bags 2x maayyybe 3x per week and there’s no stink. We plugged it into a basic aquarium type timer so that it runs twice per day to keep the motor from over working and it’s been great for over 3 years!

Definitely a circular litterbox like this but I cannot say for certain which brand, honestly. With almost a track of clean litter, the idea being to scoop out all the waste and the clean stuff would be left. Worked slowly but steadily over the course of a full day.

I’ll plug this alternative that I have been running for ~4 years now.
The construction quality isn’t the best in these, but the price is better (I have seen them as low as $50). The motors have a tendency to die, but the company is great about getting you a replacement unit.

It is a dream come true. You line the little bin with a plastic bag, and every week or so you empty it and top it up with cat litter. One of the best hundred dollars I’ve ever spent.

I live in a studio cottage. I use one of these for my big guy (and he’s old, so he uses it a lot): PetSafe Simply Clean Continuous-Clean Litter Box. I use it with scented composting plastic bags to line the collection bin. I plug the littler box into a timer set to go on for an hour and half, three times a day (so that’s four and a half hours, total). For two cats, you might have to let it run longer. Some people let it run 24-7, but that wears out the motor faster and it’s a pricey item to replace. I have to break it down and wash/sanitize it every month or six weeks, and after it’s dried, I spray the bottom litter bowl with silicone lubricant so the clumping litter doesn’t stick.
TL;DR: Small house, big cat, no smell problem.
