The monoprice premium set is very similar to that energy system for $120 less. 2 years is a long time to wait for a subwoofer. In that case I would go 2.1 initially. i would go either http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044D3R7M?ref%5F=sr%5F1%5F4&qid=1432602548&sr=8-4&keywords=infinity%20primus&pldnSite=1 or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E7H8GG2?ref%5F=sr%5F1%5F2&qid=1432691007&sr=8-2&keywords=micca&pldnSite=1 and get the NXG sub. That puts you at $315 for speakers and sub if you go Miccas or $355 with the infinity option. You can save money on the receiver by stepping down to the http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrxv377bl/yamaha-rx-v377-5.1-channel-a/v-home-theater-receiver/1.html. These 2.1 systems will blow away the energy or monoprice 5.1 systems.

Not a fan of those speakers. You need to pull back just a bit and start with a 2.1 or 3.1 system for that money. I’d go with something like this:

Receiver $200: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrs500bt/denon-avr-s500bt-5.2-channel-4k-ultra-hd-a/v-receiver-w/bluetooth/1.html

L/R speakers $120: http://smile.amazon.com/Infinity-Primus-Two-way-Bookshelf-Satellite/dp/B0044D3R7M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1424184664&sr=8-5&keywords=infinity+primus

Subwoofer $130: http://smile.amazon.com/MartinLogan-Dynamo-300-Theater-Subwoofer/dp/B004LRPXAU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424184772&sr=8-1&keywords=martin+logan+dynamo

You’d have to have patience and build on it but I think this would eventually yield a much better system overall.
