This dual foot switch is what I use for save/load states (also for MAME coin drops). You just map the switches to whatever key you like (F5 and F7 typically). It’s the perfect solution, I think. I don’t have to sacrifice controller buttons, can use original controllers, and the feet finally get in on the action!

I would absolutely buy something like this if I could find one. Lots of people are pointing to those terrible amazon footpedals, but they’re super light and don’t stay put, and are also kinda low quality. I’d love a metal one that would stay nicely put all the time, especially if it came with nice software to rebind what key it presses.

EDIT: I was just looking on amazon, and I came across a pedal I’ve never seen before, actually.. Anybody tried one of these out before?

You could buy a usb foot pedal off Amazon. Ive seen some streamers bind them to lean. Or you can move your ‘wasd’ movement keys to something like ‘rdfg’. That’ll give you more keys to left of your hand to use.

I use a dual-foot pedal set up to mimic right and left mouse clicks, which is where I have the most issue with pain. It was particularly useful for games with fast-paced combat, such as with BDO. The pedal set-up came with software that allows you to assign any keyboard key to use them.

For example, many combat moves in BDO were like Lmouse + shift (example) and Rmouse + Q. I would press the left pedal with my foot while pressing the shift key with my finger, then press the right foot pedal while pressing Q.

This is the one I bought two years ago and still use it today. No issues with it:

There’s tons of accessibility options out there, usb foot pads for example. You can map left and right click to those. You could also map them to sensors on your elbow or any other body part, eye tracking, etc.

I bought this 2-pedal set and love it, works great with the included programming software (for keystrokes and joystick controls).

There is a 1-pedal version sold by the same company on Amazon.

Check it out.

Hey! So my right arm ends at my elbow, and I play shooters and mmos on pc using a controller and a left handed mouse with additional buttons.

Unfortunately, they don’t make the mouse anymore (razer naga lefty) but the one I have my eye on next is the Logitech g903. It’s expensive, but has more buttons than most and is ambidextrous.

What I like about pc gaming is more options to remap buttons. There’s a program called rWASD that essentially lets you turn a controller into a keyboard. I use a lot of modifiers like the button 1, Ctrl+1, Alt+1, Shift+1, etc. So if you’re able to only press a few buttons, you can put them together to have more, if that makes sense?

Also, foot pedals! There’s some on amazon that have been a life saver, easy to program, and seem very durable. I have 3 sets of these,

I don’t know if I’m helping or not, it sounds confusing as I type it, but it works very well for me. And I’d be happy to share more if you have any questions, just send me a message. Good luck on the games!

Would it be possible to get some sort of foot pedal? You said your arms are the hardest part, would your feet fare any better?

Here is something I found on Amazon that looks promising, although it only has two inputs.

Well you do it the old fashioned way.

Use your feet.

Some people just use a second keyboard, and then bind spacebar. That’s one option.

I bought this one in 2018.

I really liked it, it was solid and sturdy. But after two and a half years of light/moderate use, one of the buttons quit working. The annoying thing is it can’t really be disassembled to diagnose.

So I bought this one four months ago and been using it since. It weighs less, the buttons are more sensitive (much less force required), but it’s working fine so far, no complaints.

Could something like this work?

You could probably find a lot of them with the search “USB Foot Button” – they’re frequently used in places like call centres, so that agents can answer calls without taking their hands away from the keyboard. You may have to pair them with a small macro-recorder, but that will take about 20 minutes if you’re pretty tech savvy.

How about a USB foot switch? I have a couple of these and they work pretty well.

They work well, but build up to them slowly, don’t damage your Achilles

theres only a few on amazon, or available in general. the solid black ones are hte original from back in the day. these newer ones are bit better quality and the software more up to date, but the software is also hit or miss for more complicated functions. i use it primiarly for push to talk now.
