Look at GMMK. They have a sale going on right now and they’re dirt cheap. Buy one without keycaps or switches. You can get those separately. Switching switches is super easy on hotswappable boards like the GMMK, so you won’t have to buy a whole new keyboard to try different switches. Also flashy RGB woo. As for keycaps, Vortex Doubleshots are my pick. They’re $30 from amazon.

Higher quality keycaps

Comes in black or white. Those are the cheapest doubleshot PBT caps that will fit Corsair boards. Make sure you purchase the 126 key set.

iKBC Doubleshot PBT

Comes in black or white, this is the cheapest I’m aware of that will fit Razer/Corsair boards. Make sure you buy the 126 set. If you buy 108 or lower, you will not fit the entire board.

Corsair K65? Either the Vortex PBT set so it’s A) cheaper and B) no Corsair font

Or you buy the official Corsair PBT ones for like $20 more.

Either one will hold up way better than the stock caps.

If you want colours outside black/white, good luck mate. That non-standard bottom row really fucks your options over.

I’ll even link ’em.

A couple crappy caps’ll run you like $10 after shipping anyway. These’ll feel a lot more solid and won’t look like crap in 2 weeks. I own a CM. That is their main weak point.

There’s no backlit Cherry profile caps out there either.

Vortex PBT+POM doubleshots are OEM still, but better quality than the G710 caps. Also comes in white.

geekkeys.com, originative.co, KBDfans, and pimpmykeyboard are all good places to look for keycaps. You won’t find very many good sets on Amazon.

If you want to maintain the backlighting, the Vortex set is pretty much your only good option.

Personally, I’d go for the Ducky. I prefer the case design of the Ducky One and it’s a decent amount cheaper than the CM. As for keycaps, there really aren’t many decent backlit keycap sets. The only ones that come to mind are the Vortex PBT/POM Doubleshots.

For an immediate difference in your existing Razer board, buy set of good, inexpensive keycaps, and a set of red rubber o-rings:

Vortex Backlit Double-Shot PBT/POM Mechanical Keyboard Keycap Set, Black Color, $30 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LQFHLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_SlHWAbHV9CD2

Rubber O-Ring Sound Dampeners for Mechanical Gmaing Keyboard 144 pcs by Qisan(Red), $10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076DTS2ZX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YCHWAbT6S8K8K

It will immediately upgrade your current keyboard setup. Razer boards use decent keyswitches, but horrible keycaps (thin, cheap keycaps using ABS plastic). These Vortex keycaps are made from thick, high-quality PBT plastic that won’t wear down or shine, and will make a very satisfying THOCC THOCC sound when you type. If you want a quieter, softer landing when you “bottom out” your keys put the O-rings on the keycaps.

If/when you upgrade, you can always reclaim those keycaps for your new board. But more than likely, these will stay on your Razer keyboard (even if you end up giving the keyboard away to a friend/relative), because replacing the cheap, thin, shitty ABS keycaps that comes with Razer boards makes that much of a difference.

The Vortex PBT backlit 126 key set should have enough caps to cover it.

KBDFans has some more colourful ones that should be alright as well (read the description, kit3 covers logitech). Better than the stock caps, at least, I know all too well how bad those are.

>some keys not letting light through

The numbers won’t and you’ll get dark spots on legends with closed loops (Q, R, etc.).
