I have a Huion 420, got it from Amazon for around 25. That particular model is low end but gets the job done for an amatuer photoshop user. If you decide on a tablet I would recommend getting a one with better pressure sensitivity than that one.

Depending on your software, drawing with a tablet can be very much like drawing with paper and pencil, or very different. Before investing a lot of money, I’d advise trying out the platform in a cheaper way. The Huion 420 retails for less than $20. It’s small (4 inches by 2.3 inches) and it’s got a bit of a cheap feel, but it’s functional and will let you find out whether using a tablet will work for you. Alternately, finding a friend, a university, or a library that will let you try it out might be an option.

You can actually use your phone as a tablet to try out tablet if you’ve never done it before. If not then this one might be what you want
I don’t play tablet anymore but I did and I used this one and this one was pretty nice.
I gave it to a friend and I play mouse now.

Ooooh- Yep I see what you saying that’s a good idea thank you- !

And if you’re interested in pretty low barrier of entry digital art stuffs:

what you had in mind but in college a friend of mine introduced me to these bad boys:

https://www.amazon.com/Huion-Inches-Tablet-Graphics-Drawing/dp/B00DTPYWBG

No drivers just a usb plug in and a battery powered pen- it’s tinny tiny, but I use it as my travel tablet now and it has surprisingly good tracking for its drawing pace. And Huion is a better brand in general for a cheaper tablet- as there prices go up they should never hit like- Cintiq levels as far as I know the point in their company is making more accessible nearly professional quality tablets.

This is 20$ and SketchbookPro is a free software-

It’s by the same guys who did Maya (industry standard 3D software). It’s much more limited than photoshop but it mimics real world art supplies and experience a little better imo.

There’s two roads you can take:

  • The first one is hiring an artist on Fiverr like everyone said. You can have some emotes for between $5-25 a piece and be done with it. Plenty of people are super talented and make great emotes overall that people will definitely use.

  • The second road is the “DIY” route. Go and fetch a super cheap drawing tablet (I currently use a VPen Star G640, but those are unavailable, so you can get another cheap thing like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DTPYWBG instead), pop into a private stream or a stream on Twitch and have people watch you design the emotes. People can help you out by giving ideas on what they’ll want, and you can have some fun learning how to draw and design things that WILL represent you more than anything else.

I personally chose the second route myself. Making some content alongside people is basically the name of the game of Twitch, and even though I SUCK at drawing things, I still had a ton more fun doing so than if I had just chucked money at a fiverr artist.

By the way, this also applies to overlays and alerts after you have your own basic stuff! After you’ve settled up on a basic free overlay for a while, change things up by making some yourself or learning how to do so!

I use the the 420 model USB pen tablet from Huion. I got it as a gift and didn’t even think to use it for OneNote until I began tutoring. It makes my handwriting nicer because I can actually use a pen instead of my mouse on a computer.

You know you can change the size of the active area on almost every tablet, right?

If this is your first time buying a tablet and it’s just for osu!, I would suggest starting with the Huion 420. It’s the same tablet as the osu!tablet, just without the fancy color scheme. I used it for almost a year without any problems before switching to a Wacom. for the bigger area. I think the tablet you mentioned in the OP is the one that Rafis uses.

That’s what I’m thinking! As long as I have my laptop then I’m pretty much set right? …would something like this bet good enough to start out with? Or does price really matter with these things?

I went with the Huion 420 due to it being newer and pretty cheap. But thank you. And the IME pad looks like it might be easier than google translate, so I’ll definitely try it.

I recommend Huion tablets! You can get one on Amazon for $20 bucks. Small for a beginner.

EDIT: Edited to add the link of the tablet. There’s also a nicer, slightly bigger one for more convenience for $50

This guys seems to have a really good intro to digital painting series. If you don’t have Photoshop you could probably follow along with GIMP which is basically open source photoshop. You’d need a tablet to draw, I’ve got the cheapest Wacom (~$60) I just found this tiny thing on Amazon if you really wanted to save money.
I hope you give digital drawing a shot!

Though I don’t like reading handwritten notes on windows. It works.

If you’re interested in doing digital art stuff, you could invest in a cheap usb graphic pad and an artist glove (optional for the pad but recommended) since having a physical pen is easier to draw with than with a mouse.

Unless you want the MS paint aesthetics, there are other free drawing program options like Krita and Medibang (I use this one) that are great to draw comics with. If you want to torture yourself with searching for tutorials and guides, GIMP is allegedly the most powerful free art software out there but with the steepest learning curve that will beat your skull in with a full toolbox of steel ratchets.

Nice to see another Ratkin user. Ratkin are the best. Ratkin is life. Ratkin is only best race.

the one I originally got has jumped in price cuz i got it on sale so its like 39 with a discount, but this one is 20 bucks solid.

Ah, I see.

Sounds like a creative kid. She should have fun with the drawing software, especially if she eventually gets a drawing tablet to use with the system you set up for her. Could probably find a cheap used Wacom, or another Linux compatible off-brand one like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Huion-Inches-Tablet-Graphics-Drawing/dp/B00DTPYWBG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=drawing+tablet+linux&qid=1607654970&sr=8-3

Good luck with the setup and configuration!

The tablet you are using saving up for, I have no idea how good it is accept that it’s bigger than what I have lol

I’ve been using an osu tablet for years and it only cost 25 dollar. The downside to that tablet is that it is incredibly small but I’ve made really nice things with it. The size is pretty much the size of an oreo package lmao osu tablet art

I recently upgraded like a week ago, bought me a tablet with a screen, it’s called XP PEN ARTIST 12 and it’s about 200 dollar.
I’ve been studying and taking notes with it and it’s also pretty nice. I havent been free enough to make super stuff with it, but here are some of the small things I’ve done art with xp pen 12

I hope this help you with your decision. It is really just the artist, and how much comfort you want. The small tablet is annoying but it gets the artwork done, and it’s really cheap. I’ve used it all my life up until a week ago lol I just wanted a screen because I also needed a second monitor ( so why not have it be a writable tablet too) . XP Pen 12 works really well. Also the colors are reaaaallly pretty!

I’m in a physics class and my prof recommended a HUION writing tablet to us for $20 ish. It’s been working well for me. All you have to do is download the HUION software, pop a battery into the pen and you’re ready to go! https://www.amazon.com/Huion-Inches-Tablet-Graphics-Drawing/dp/B00DTPYWBG

Welcome to the fandom! Sorry for the late reply, but here’s some tips I have:

1) You don’t really need a ‘good’ PC for drawing as much, the only thing you need is a graphics tablet – (Here is the cheapest one I could find on amazon). That being said, you’re probably going to need to use the windows PC – chromebooks kinda suck for ‘real’ software. That being said, there’s actually apps you can download to draw with on your phone – and there are graphics tablets for android phones as well.

2) There’s plenty of amazing software out there you can use to get started – I’d recommend starting out with 1 of these 3:

  1. Krita – Little bit laggy on lower end PCs, but still is 100% usable – and also free!
  2. Autodesk sketchbook – Perfect for beginners – although I do have to say I don’t use it, but my friends who do use it love it.
  3. Clip studio paint – This one’s the only paid one I’d recommend, and even then you really don’t need it until later. If you’re just starting out, don’t buy it, but later on I’d recommend this.

Keep in mind that software really is only a tool – you can create amazing stuff in even MS paint.

3) This is more of a tip than an answer, but I’d actually recommend staying away from doing digital art at first- learning to draw digitally is totally different to learning to draw traditionally, so I’d recommend either just sticking to pencil and paper or to at least draw with pencil and paper in addition to digitally.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

I personally use a Huion 420: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DTPYWBG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’ve been using one since draw my thing back in the day.
It isn’t a “good” tablet in any way, but its cheap and works well enough and fun to play with 😛
If you are just looking for fun, this works.
If you are looking to become a good artist, look at Wacom 🙂

Why is the Huoin tablet and all other budget tablets near double the price or doesn’t exist in sweden?

for example Huoin tablet not shipping to sweden https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00DTPYWBG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3UE17SNWWCYZJ&psc=1 21 euro

same tablet but ships to sweden https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00DTPYWBG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1 38 euro

does anyone know anyway i can buy it cheap?

…And we’re off! Thank you again to all of our beta testers and supporters for making this game a reality. We are forever grateful.

To all newcomers experiencing The Painter’s Playground for the first time – WELCOME! We hope you enjoy your stay here in Painter’s Port. The community so far has been wonderful in every way possible. Bob and I will be quite active in addressing any issues, questions, comments, or concerns through the Steam forum.

Alright, now onto our two launch contests!

DLC KEY CONTEST

Create a LetsPlay video of The Painter’s Playground, and post it here on the Steam video tab in the community hub. It can be anything you want, as long as it’s at least 5 minutes long. Ideas for videos could include a tutorial, tips and tricks, or just you doodling. Once you’ve posted the video, either friend me on here (you can unfriend after I give you the key, if you would like, no worries), or email the evidence to Dorkoski at ohio.edu.

HUION DRAWING TABLET CONTEST
I will buy and send this Huion Tablet to the first player who reaches Artist Level 50. This contest will require some serious work – you’ve been warned haha 😀

https://www.amazon.com/Huion-Inches-Tablet-Graphics-Drawing/dp/B00DTPYWBG/ref=sr_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1516049982&sr=1-14&keywords=wacom+tablet

The only caveat is that I have to be able to ship it to you through Amazon. If by some reason I cannot (or the shipping is insane), I’ll send you $20.00 USD through a Steam Gift instead.

Now we said we weren’t going to do save wipes – and we aren’t. BUT if you plan on going for level 50, we ask that you in-good-faith delete your current artist and start over to be fair to newcomers. Thank you!

Post your level 50 screen shot here on Steam and also email the link to Dorkoski at ohio.edu. We get an email when someone reaches level 50, but this will nudge me.

Thank you all for reading. Happy Painting!

I dont think you can find one “not small” for under 50$
most people go for stuff like:

huion420: https://www.amazon.com/Huion-Inches-Tablet-Graphics-Drawing/dp/B00DTPYWBG

xp pen: https://www.amazon.com/XP-Pen-Ultrathin-Graphic-Digital-Drawing/dp/B01BA6XQI0/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1515339942&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=xp+pen&psc=1

gaomon s56k: https://www.amazon.com/GAOMON-Inches-Drawing-Graphics-Tablet/dp/B01LL2QGXA

there are just the lower price ones, you could also get wacom ctl490 for a bit over the price, but since everyone complains at it you better get something else.
honestly try to find a used wacom 470/471/480 for that price (these arent made anymore), if you cant, you should stick to mouse tbh
