I’ve used two Holmes models which are pretty identical.

Used to choke when I slept, these put a stop to that. My asthma’s bad enough that I can’t even really leave my room for very long without starting to get all tight in the airways, but these things have me back to normal in about ten minutes or so, sometimes without the need for an inhaler.

I’ve been using variations of these for over a decade:

And these knock off replacement filters for it work great:

No need to spend $1500. I would get three of those Holmes units and maybe qty 6 of those air filter replacements. Then you should be good for a season or two.
I have seasonal allergies. My wife has allergies to everything. I have indoor and out door air quality meters. With all my filters running I can get a solid 100 AQI points better inside than out. It makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using some holmes units for 10 years. They don’t last that long, I just replace them when the fans start getting wobbly (after maybe 4 years).
The exact units I used to buy are no longer there, but I just ordered one of these:

I like these filters to go in them, they are cheaper than the brand ones and work quite well.

I am a bit of a fanatic about air quality. I have monitors and during the worst of it, using these guys I kept our place 100 to 150 lower AQI inside than out.
Plus they help with allergies and dust year round.
