If you are working long hours, get an external keyboard/mouse. Trust me, its worth it. Before your wrist pain worsens, get a good set of keyboard and mouse and add a wrist pad to lighten the load on your wrist.

Here’s what I use in my setup.

Logitech MK850 keyboard / mouse combo. Both keyboard and mouse are good, with multi device connectivity (You can switch between multiple devices with press of a button once you configure it). Mouse in this combo is a Logitech Triathlon M720 that comes with support for gestures (configurable using logitech’s app) to make your life easier. For example, you can configure the side buttons for back/forward in Chrome, gesture button + an action to switch desktops etc.

I am someone who had a wrist problem which I had to get fixed surgically and getting carpel tunnel or another wrist problem again would be a night mare for me. I’ve been using this wrist pad for about 1.5 years now. Works great. Comes as 2 piece setup. https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07RYCZJYT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Monitor, choice is yours. There are so many in all budget ranges. But since you are using a macbook, please don’t buy anything that is atleast not full HD resolution. If you can get 4K, great, but that’s going to be expensive. In office, I used to work with a multi monitor set up (I am a UI developer). But since its a mess to handle all that hardware, I gave ultra wide monitor a try and I love it so far. I use LG25UM58-P. Works great for my setup. Monitor is ultra wide, so, side by side windows is not an issue at all.

As far as chairs are concerned, my recommendation is to go to a store, sit on one and pick the one that you feel comfortable in. Pick one with enough thigh and back support and also adjustable elbow rest so that your hand isn’t hanging while working. I also use ergonomic back and seat cushions to make my life easier.
