Do you still need a new cable if you have the 2020 revision of the Sundara’s? The product page mentions that they updated the cable for the 2020 version.

Hifiman Sundara Headphones to go with my amp and PC. Sound is phenomenal, I love it.

Would you recommend two very different headphones and setups with different pros/cons for more versatility/flexibility, or buy two identical/similar setups instead?

Here are some headphones I have come across in my research so far:
Sennheiser HD 6xx – $220
Hifiman Sundara – $349
Sennheiser HD 660 S – $499
Hifiman Ananda – $599
Focal Clear – $990
Audeze LCD-X – $1,199
Focal Clear MG – $1,490
Sennheiser HD 800 S – $1,599
Hifiman Arya Stealth – $1,599

Why pre-owned? I can put in a bit more money for brand new ones. Pricing isn’t that far off it seems and warranty is important

  2. https://www.amazon.com/HIFIMAN-SUNDARA-Over-Ear-Full-Size-Headphones/dp/B077XDWT7X

One of them seems to specify 2020 model and the other one doesn’t. Which headphones are you referring to?

Hifiman Sundara usually goes for $349 and it is one of the best for sound quality below $500. You will want to have an amp/dac to drive it. Maybe a quality bluetooth dac/amp which you can also plug into PC and use it as a USB soundcard. Qudelix-5k comes to mind. Also upgrade cable of Sundara to a 2.5mm balanced with 2.5mm balanced to dual 3.5mm male connectors by Youkamoo

>I kinda meant that they were sorta lying about there being a 2021 revision? Unless I’m mistaken?

Yeah, they be capping, but advertising a “2021 revision” is probably enough to sway some buyers from the “2020 revision” on Amazon.

>Was going to just order off headphones.com if there’s really no difference between the two. Is there a site you recommend I get from policy-wise?

I’ve had good luck with Bloom Audio, and they’re an authorized dealer.

Hi there, here’s what I’ve put together, would you mind taking a brief look to make sure I haven’t overlooked anything major like incompatible parts or fallen into beginner traps?

The setup would be Sundara headphones (Hifiman 2020 revision) and a Modi 1 to go with my existing Magni. I was looking at getting 3.5 w/ 6.35 adapter, to dual 3.5 cables for the Hifiman Sundara and a wooden headphone stand.

Also, on the stand, is it better to hang them by the metal, or if it’s better to put them on a headform of some kind?

Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there,

Based on a previous post, I was looking at getting this setup and wondered if anyone could take a look and see if I look good to go from a technical standpoint? I’ve got the budget for these, just mainly wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything notable.

It’s Sundara headphones (Hifiman 2020 revision) and a Modi 1 to go with my existing Magni. I was looking at getting 3.5 w/ 6.35 adapter, to dual 3.5 cables for the Hifiman Sundara and a wooden headphone stand.

Thank you!
