Without time to find what would really work for you, I’d still feel safe recommending just the standard cult classic Hada Labo lotions (especially the premium line, my personal favorite), they’re packed with great ingredients and don’t have tons of fillers like coloring, fragrance, alcohols, etc. Or the Sana ones, there’s a few lines – with focus on wrinkles, pigmentation, or brightening – so really whichever suits your needs. If they don’t work for your face, they’re great to use on your body, and the lighter texture Hada Labo ones are even great on your scalp! The refill bag packs are so easy to travel with, too. A lot of Japanese skincare is focused on light, moisturizing layering, and those products are some of the best bang for yr yen. You can easily find cleansers and creams anywhere, but damn. That moist layer!! So good here.
SPF, too, but that’s a harder one… best to go to Donki and try some of the testers and see what textures you like! Sometimes the scents in them here can kill it for me, so I mostly use Korean ones. Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence is really popular, though, and a good starting formula! There are some big size ones of that here that are really hard to find outside of Japan.
Also, mascara, if you’re into that. Dolly Wink is the most popular overall, but my personal faves are Opera Mylash and Shiseido’s Majolica Majorca’s Lash Expander (but tbh all their versions are great, really just depends on your wand preference!).
Cosme has rankings, too, so that’s a good place to poke around. A lot of the “best” stuff is well beyond my price range, I kick it more in the puchipura area of skincare. But if you can hit up a Cosme store in person, they have their top rankings of skincare, makeup, etc. which makes it easy to find good things!
