Fuck beats indeed.
For 200 I don’t think you can get a less hype-more sound for your buck headphone than Grado. (Never advertised, made in america, good customers service, like they serviced my 6 year old headphones for free customer service)

Solid state yes. Tubes have a distinct sound and if you like that you should get it. It is usually recommended to get a solid state first but that’s not the way I did it. The 225es I have never heard but I like the grado sr80i. They have the same distinct grado sound. You also won’t need an amp for these. Have you ever had any high end headphones before?
