Budget – $150 max
Source – Samsung Galaxy S5
Requirements for isolation – None
Preferred Type of Headphone – Lightweight open or closed on-ear. For some reason every pair of over-ear makes me uncomfortable.
Preferred Tonal Balance – Strong punchy bass without being muddy. Mids and highs at a neutral level (not too bright). I really enjoy the sound of my ATH-M50’s and Bose AE2.
Past Headphones:
* Audio Technica ATH-M50 – Absolutely love the sound. My favorite by far. Biggest complaint is that they’re too heavy and uncomfortable for extended wear at work.
* Bose AE2 – Sound is close to the AT’s but these are much more comfortable, Super lightweight, soft cups, and low pressure from the band. Only problem is that my head is sensitive to over-ear headphones resting on my skull.
* Sony MDR-ZX770BT – Another pair of good sounding headphones, close to the Bose. They are heavier and a bit tighter than the Bose, can’t wear them for long.
* Koss Porta-Pro – Some of the best value budget headphones I own. Great sound for the price but a bit lacking on the bass. The headband and pads left something to be desired. I actually Frankensteined these into an old pair of Sony cups.
* Sony MDR-V150 – These are my oldest and longest running pair of headphones. They sound like the $20 headphones they are however once the vinyl coating wore off the cups these are now the most comfortable pair of headphones I own. They weigh 4oz. and have absolutely no pressure. I put Koss Portapro drivers in them.
Preferred Music – EDM, Pop, Hip-Hop/Rap, & R&B
What would you like to improve on from your set-up – I would love a pair with the sound of the ATH-M50 or Bose in lightweight and comfortable housing of the Sony MDR-V150. Something I can truly wear for hours on end at work and barely notice them. For reference the Sony’s weight around 4oz. and the ATH-M50’s weigh around 10oz.
Headphones I’ve considered
Grado SR125e – These look like they might fit the bill but I’ve read that they have comfort issues and comfort is a huge deal to me. They also might be lacking the bass I want.
Bose SoundTrue On-Ear – I think I might have actually listened to these before but they didn’t have as much bass as the Bose AE2.
Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear – The reviews seem great but I have no idea what to expect. Also the pads look comfy but might make my ears warm.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can suggest something that works for me!
