Have you considered the GMMK ISO TKL?

It’s available in both ANSI and ISO and is a hotswap board so you can choose your switches and have the option to change the then out at a date should you fee like it.

This is a bare board, so you’d also need to add in the cost of switches and keycaps to get a full working board. This will cost you more than a Durgod K320 would initially, however you would end up with a more customisable board.

Silent Cherry MX Reds or Blacks for that matter are the initial go to choices for a quieter keyboard so you won’t go wrong with either of those.

You may also want to look into how to lube your switches and stabs. Lubing a switch will help to dampen the sound, as well as remove any scratchiness you may feel while operating a switch. Lubing the stabs will help to reduce or remove any rattling you get from the stabs while pressing on the larger 2u keys, the space bar or the Enter key.

Glorious PC Gaming Race GMMK TKL Tastatur – Barebone, ISO-Layout https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07L31V1K4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_J08VXV7S0S5MFEH8QGQS?psc=1

My apologizes. I knew the full size did and assumed the TKL did also. Kinda odd it’s the only one that doesn’t. Maybe they are just sold out?

Edit: yes, just sold out on the main site. Here is a barebones on Amazon. You’d have to get switches and caps, but since it’s a hotswap board those would be easy to install without any tools.

something like this could be nice

this one is smaller and probably also looks better

keep in mind that the stabilizers those come with might be trash and you also need switches and keycaps and if you want a custom feel you can optionally lube your switches with for example 205g if you want linear switches or 3203 or 3204 for tactiles. Those are not over the top awesome boards but a good start and you can modify them, add dampening foam and whatnot. The GK61 would be my recommendation as it’s cheaper and looks clean but keep in mind that it’s small.

and don’t forget, 80ish$, switches and keycaps, that can be a bit expensive. I recommend gateron yellow switches and keycaps from HK-Gaming if you are on a budget. That’s probably the bast bang for your buck!

Hello. I’ve been trying to finalise my first build as of recent and want to ask some questions.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glorious-PC-Gaming-Race-Barebones/dp/B07L31V1K4 – I’m going for this board, either from Amazon or from the Glorious website. One thing I notice is that on the amazon website, the pictures don’t show any stabs for the left shift key, and it looks to be a different size. Is this just in the pictures or is there an actual different between the GMMK TKL on Amazon and the GMMK TKL on the Glorious website?

Another query I have is to do with keycaps. I want the RGB on my board to shine-through/show well, but I also want good quality keycaps that will last me years (preferably PBT).

Are pudding keycaps recommended in this scenario? If so, which company makes them with the decent quality that I’m looking for?

If puddings aren’t recommended, where can I find some decent but well priced two tones (preferably with white alphanumeric keys)?

Thanks in advance.

So, would something like this £72 GMMK not pass muster for being black, and foam probably being DIY?

Personally it just seems for the budget you’re stating, I’d want some very specific sound profile (i.e. silent), or low profile Chocs. I couldn’t justify the cost otherwise, especially if you are sticking with staggered keys rather than trying a split and/or ergo setup.

And there’s actually a Gmmk TKL (non Pro) ISO: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Glorious-Gaming-Barebone-Keyboard-Layout/dp/B07L31V1K4/ if you want to go cheaper. But it’s micro-USB and not USB-C…

– GMMK Barebones ISO TKL (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glorious-PC-Gaming-Race-Barebones/dp/B07L31V1K4)

– Glorious Gateron Browns (https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/gateron-switches)

– Tai Hao PBT Backlit Forest Deep Green Keycaps (132 Keys + 8 ISO UK keys) (https://spotonpccases.co.uk/product/tai-hao-deep-forest-green-double-shot-pbt-backlit-keycaps/)

I really like the GMMK TKL as it has per-key RGB, is available in ISO and I’m a sucker for floating keys. However, GMMK only sell ISO UK keycaps in ABS which I fitted to this board originally. They’re good for the price but I really wanted PBT. The problem was finding a full UK ISO keycap set in PBT with LED shine-through. I took a punt on this Tai-Hao set (reviews were very mixed) and am very happy with their quality. I think they compliment this board pretty well.

Hi all, I’m looking to get a budget-ish (<£150), customisable keyboard to get started with, ideally with tactile switch and TKL size. Got inspired by this guide, but it looks like none of the cheap hotswap prebuilts are available (atm) with a UK layout.

If I buy a ‘barebones’ keyboard (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L31V1K4/ for example) instead, do I need anything other than keycaps and switches, and how hard would it be to assemble?

Also, my current keyboard is basically the cheapest Cherry MX Brown keyboard I could find a few years ago – I’d like something more tactile, but not too heavy, and obviously needs to be available in the UK. What switch should I get?

You’re options for ISO hotswap will be limited.

GMMK do a barebones board which is hotswap, but I don’t think it’s QMK/via programmable. Could be wrong on that though.

They have just released the GMMK Pro – there isn’t an ISO version yet, but I think there will be one coming.

Other than that, I think the only other option that would fulfill your requirements is caps-unlocked either CU80 or CU65. But the group buys are closed now, no idea when the next will be – you could be waiting a while , or you’ll have to pay over the odds on mechmarket!
