You can buy the Glorious barebones kit, but you’ll also need to buy switches for it.

Also, you can just buy a keyboard that has keys on it and put the set you bought on that board…chances are the keys you bought are better quality than what comes on the board by default.

Yeah, seems like there’s a GMMK barebones on there right now for about 60$

Adding to this, would be too difficult. Could grab the GMMK barebone edition from amazon for $80
https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Modular-Mechanical-Keyboard-Gaming/dp/B01MXUL6D3/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B01MXUL6D3&psc=1

Then buy some switches of your choice for roughly $30-60 depending on the switches you want. Would recommend lubing them too but for the most part not required and can be done later for $40 if you have to buy the opener, brushes and lube.

If you want keyboards that have pretty nice software for macros (If that’s your thing.) and such you can’t go wrong with a Glorious GMMK or a Drop Shift. You can either go barebones like the ones I linked, which means you’ll need to buy the switches separately and put them in yourself, which is pretty easy to do even for a beginner. It’s nothing crazy, but it’s very solid for the price.

In the enthusiast mech keyboard market, afaik full-sized keyboards are actually pretty rare. Most prefer TKL or less (60%). But you can still find some other options like RK100 / Keychron K4 / Durgod Taurus.

However, in my opinion, looking for a full-sized keyboard is really limiting, since the vast majority are made by big-name companies like Steelseries, Corsair, Logitech etc, and are almost never hot-swap, so you’re (mostly) stuck with what what switches they come with. I would personally suggest investing in something like this. If you get yourself a standalone keypad (If you deem it to be that necessary) then you wont have to limit yourself to fullsized keyboards and the number of options you have will like, quadruple.

GMMK full size – if you customize you can get Gateron black switches.

Or you can get the bare bones version and buy the switches and keycaps separately.

for the keyboard i recommend this one, and for switches you we’re saying he likes tactile heavy ones?
