My husband had dryness issues with contacts too and his eye doctor told him to take fish oil supplements daily and use a special eye wash with tea tree in it (https://www.amazon.com/Formula-Cleanser-mililiters-Blepharitis-Symptoms/dp/B01I064M22). He says it’s helped. Maybe worth a look!

If your blepharitis is caused by the skin condition Ocular Rosacea, there is a possibility for an overgrowth of demodex mites. Solantra is the dermatologist prescribed ivermectin formulated medication for this condition. It’s not to be used on the eyes, best I know. Tea Tree oil can also kill demodex mites and is available in several different eyelid washes for this purpose. Tranquil Eyes Eyelid & Facial scrub addresses demodex also. I use it and really like it.Tranquil Eyes Eyelid & Facial Cleanser

I don’t like the Ocusoft. I felt like it aggravated my eyes more. I think it’s super abrasive so I stopped using it. I like this instead: https://www.amazon.com/Formula-Cleanser-mililiters-Blepharitis-Symptoms/dp/B01I064M22?ref_=ast_sto_dp

I am no dr, but I will tell you once I stopped Ocusoft I think it helped!

I’m 32 and have been dealing with blepharitis since I was 18. I’ve tried just about every treatment. Antibiotics, drops, ointments, blephex and lipiflow. I’ve even had bumps from styes cut out of my eye lids. My dad also has it and his is terrible too.

A few years ago I switched ophthalmologists and she got it under control. She had me start using an eye wash that you can find on Amazon, use it morning and night and don’t skip a day, it will get better. I also see her every 3-4 months for blephex (it’s like a power wash for your eye lids).

Warm, moist compresses and eyelid hygiene are your friend right now. If you’re a make up wearer, remove it nightly and replace the make up regularly (brushes too).

Tea tree oil based cleansers tend to do well like Tranquileyes or Cliradex light can be helpful.

Here’s the tranqileyes my practice carries.

I had one after a bout with bleph, and I used the warm heat mask and expression, and it went away on its own. I watched a few you tubes about expressing your eyelid, and it really helped. I’m also a makeup wearer and feel miserable when I can’t wear any!

My routine is as follows: Wake up, wash with this: https://www.amazon.com/Formula-Cleanser-mililiters-Blepharitis-Symptoms/dp/B01I064M22?ref\_=ast\_sto\_dp I use this instead of the Ocusoft. I really believe that for me, those were aggravating my eyelids. They were too abrasive and once I stopped using them, my eyes went back to normal much faster.

Then I’ll put on my makeup, and I do wear false strip lashes everyday. At night, I take my makeup off using these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057GZ1B0/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I switched to these instead of the Ocusoft, again, much less abrasive and my eyes did much better. I use these to take off my makeup at night.

Then I spray this on a Swissper and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095SRDF5X/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o08\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 swipe my eyes with them. *I just want to note that this is the MEGASTAR for helping me with Bleph!!!*

Then I do a heated eye mask for 20 mins. I massage the lids and express them every night.

Maybe some of this will help? Have you tried any tea tree oil products? There is also some Chalazion removal drops on Etsy I read about? Can’t hurt to try.

Good luck!

If I’ve learned anything about this stupid disease is that there is no cure all for everyone. I am beginning to think it’s a per person thing. My battle consists of this everyday:

Do you have an eyelid routine? I’ve found it’s THE most important thing at keeping this stupid disease at bay.

So right now I have a flare up. One thing I notice is that stress is a bleph trigger for me, unfortunately. The good news is it’s my first flare up in years.

My routine is as follows:
Wake up, wash with this: https://www.amazon.com/Formula-Cleanser-mililiters-Blepharitis-Symptoms/dp/B01I064M22?ref_=ast_sto_dp I use this instead of the Ocusoft. Then I do a heated eye mask for 20 mins. Sometimes I do the manuka honey on my eyes. I mean, you know I paid a stupid amount of money for the darn thing, I try to use it. 🙂

OcuSoft is good. I like the foam. As mentioned, the one without Tea Tree oil unless you can handle it. But, when I dont have a flare, a foam with Tea Tree works really well. If you have Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, I’ve used that on my eyelids many times when flare without issue. You can get a small travel size bottle to try it probably. Be careful – trial and error.

I really like this eyelid foam when not flaring and use it on my whole face. It has a low % of Tea Tree. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I064M22/ref=dp_iou_view_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don’t feel comfortable without makeup either, and even when my eyes felt their worst I’d put on mascara at least. The eyelid scrubs/wipes/etc that I’m thinking might help you would be used after you remove your makeup anyway, so I don’t see that affecting makeup wear.

I’m so, so sorry you weren’t warned about the side effects of Accutane. That’s really awful that some doctors don’t let their patients make an informed decision before starting on a treatment plan.

Just go into this knowing that you can be assertive and insist that your doctor give you a clear diagnosis and ALL of your possible treatment options. I always write down my questions to take with me to appointments, and do a lot of research before and after. I know that Google doesn’t take the place of a doctor but it’s a good place to start and get questions to ask your doctor.

Such as – do you think this is an infection in my eyelashes? If not, what could be making them fall out? Could it be an overgrowth of mites? Do you recommend tea tree wash/wipes? An antibiotic ointment? Warm compresses?

Just go in there armed with all the info you can. This will not ruin your life, it may just be a hard time for a while, while you figure out how to make it better.

Some over the counter products I found that might help:

Gentle Formula Tea Tree Eyelid and Facial Cleanser

Cliradex – expensive, but you can double the use of wipes by cutting them in half and storing in a ziploc baggie.
