Hey, I did something similar but already had a macbook, so I bought a $50 drawing tablet and plug it into my laptop and use it as a notebook.

Here’s the one I got on amazon but you can find another you like more. I didn’t wanna spend a few hundred-1k on a tablet so this works just as well 🙂

Graphic tablets like this are a great alternative to smart boards/doc cams. They’re really great for writing on your computer screen (particularly when you’re teaching synchronous remote and in person kids). It probably would take some a bit to get used to but I’m loving mine for teaching high school science.

I also prefer them over doc cams because I’m left handed so my hand blocks what I’m writing on camera.

If you are just starting out and don’t know if you’ll stick to it, I’d recommend using a tablet like this one:

I’d also recommend using Krita (a software), it’s free and works really well.

I’d recommend looking into Krita if you’re working on PC. Seems to be the best free option. (Blender is also amazing, but more complicated and for 3D, but it can do 2D.)

Also look into getting a graphics tablet, if you don’t have one already. If you’re tight on money, a cheap one like this will do just fine while you learn.

Try doing this list of exercises in order. It’s a great way to get familiar with the different aspects of animation.

Most of all, have fun! This can be the most enjoyable art form, but remember to be patient with the work and patient with yourself. Good luck!
