Would the SOLO version of the SCARLETT not cater even more directly to my humble needs? Why would I need more than one mic preamp? The rare times I’ll have to record actual sound, it will be one instrument/track at a time.

Or does this thing not do MIDI? I can’t find any photos of the back end on this one, like I could the 4i4 you recommended.

Definitely play through pc is the best solution. That’s how I play, through headphones so nobody has to hear me suck. Sound quality with good plugins is way better than any amp i’ve ever had too.
All u need is an audio interface.

Guitar cable into this, then USB into PC. U can run it into FL studio or it comes with an ableton download, which is what I use.

I’ve got a decent Maono USB mic but I’ve been researching that Stellar for the last 24 hours. I like the X2 Vintage even more but not at $270.

I would plug it into the Scarlett Solo and if I set up a booth out in my wood shop, I would probably record into my old desktop computer that I retired when I got a rebuilt Dell business machine with a solid state harddrive.

Even if I had to buy a recording device, I would probably just buy another refurbished Dell for about $100, rather than any of the portable devices that I’ve been looking at.
