I’m 95% set on those Fluance Signatures you recommended. ‘95%’ as in I haven’t gotten around to purchasing them yet. And I probably will throw in a Dayton 1200 sub once I get my tax return. I’ll run the L/R through the sub, to the Fluance. Whatcha think?

I’ve read on here that bookshelves and a sub are just as good as floorstanders and a sub. I just like the look of floorstanding a lot better tho. It seems weird to have a lil bookshelf on a speaker pole next to your tv. I also read you’d wanna go with the RP line with Klipsch so then your floorstands are more epensive and around $700 for the RP-250Fs as opposed to some bookshelves like the Fluance which are $300. And then I can take that money and get the svs pb-1000 sub that /u/GbMaxSE suggested, assuming floorstanders sound no different than bookshelves

Im looking into buying the Fluance Signature Series System and am wondering how much i would need to spend to actually power these things. Also, if i wanted to get a woofer in the future would i need a receiver or can a small amplifier power a sub, thank you!
Also have a question about a 5 channel mixer, i would like a 5 channel mixer as i have a few pairs of headphones, but if i got one, could i power a speaker system off of it? or even a subwoofer?

Receiver: Get the S720 factory refurb for the same price, it’s usually still more than a new S510, but once you add it to your cart there is an extra 20% sale as A4L is celebrating 20 years. Audyssey alone makes it much better.
Sub: Get it from Parts Express. They are the ones selling it on Amazon, but with no shipping fee if you buy direct.
Fronts: Also get from PartsExpress, order together with the subwoofer to waive the shipping cost (orders <$100 get charged a fee).
Surrounds: Get their bigger brother, the XLBP, it’s discounted to the same price. It’s has a wood finish on the sides, but it shouldn’t matter (I have wood floors, so they actually match a little).
Center: You ideally want them to match, but it’s not the biggest thing in the world.
The Micca center is on backorder, FYI. I would try my hand at Craigslist and similar services, I bought a 3.0 for $75, and would blow away the Micca’s.
EDIT: You seem to be wanting to go 3.0/3.1. The 12″ Dayton goes down to 25Hz, so while it’s not the best, it’s still better than what most people have. However, of you really want to get good fronts, then I would forgo the sub for now. Without the sub or surrounds, it seems you would have ~$400 for a 3.0, which I would suggest either the Fluance Signature bookshelves and center or the HTD Level Two bookshelevs and center.

There’s nothing really that you could get that will be small.
If you up your budget a tad, you could do Fluance.
And then you’ll need rears. You can get the MB42X. It doesn’t really matter much. You could even get the MB42 for a few bucks less.
Those Fluances will be bigger, but they’re front ported, so you can put them against a wall and not have a problem.

Both seem to be passive speakers so I would need an amp as well apparently. I don’t plan to connect them to a AV receiver – just the turntable and speakers. Can anyone recommend a good amp for this setup? I found this one on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/ART-DJPREII-Audio-Turntable-Preamplifier/dp/B000AJR482/) which seems to get decent reviews.
I am new to vinyl but I want speakers that have some good bass to them (without a sub) since I won’t be connecting to a receiver. Which of these speakers will provide the best highs and enough bass?

Hello.
I have some questions regarding purchasing of speakers. This will be used for a TV and computer setup, I want to be able to switch between at least 3 inputs Computer, TV, Bluetooth (for phone)
I’m looking for a good set I want a hard-cap of about $400-500 (everything together) but if it’s not to much more I might make some more exception
But generally aiming for the $200-250 range (At least on speakers alone), I looked at the recommended speaker sets in the post and I would like something more in-line with the $100 set but better quality.
I’m generally looking for a 2, 2.1 speaker setup (As I have a set of Logitech z506 5.1, but want better sound, not sure if I should go 2.1 or stick with 5.1) but this will be in my bed room as well
I was following this guide Which I found a couple months back but haven’t bought anything yet (New PC build first then audio setup) and I liked the look of these speakers the best. but also thinking of possible wall mounting them as well, but I want to wait and see until everything is ordered and setup where Id like them to be.
Would this be a good guide to follow, or is there stuff you would change to make it a bit better, or just overall better, any ideas/recommendations for ease of convenience onto me? (I do want to have a clean setup so I’d prefer to have a slightly longer cable then a short cable.

Four won’t even work. Music will only come out of the front two anyways. And if they’re good enough, it will be immersive anyways.
Okay ouch two speakers and a sub is a tight budget, but I know just the stuff.
Fluance Signature Series. Front ported, so you can put them up against a wall or whatever. Placement doesn’t matter as much as something with a rear port.
Elac subwoofer. If you haven’t been researching speakers, there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of elac, or Andrew Jones. If you know your stuff about speakers, you’ll know Andrew Jones. He’s basically the rock star of the speaker designing world.
That will be a very good $300 setup.

For $200 there’s really two speakers I’d recommend.
Wavecrest Audio HVL-1. Those are $230 from Wavecrest but they’re on sale at ascend. I’d get those.

OK, that ‘s good.
First, you want a reviever. Check out the refurb ones I mentioned from accessories4less. Honestly, any of them will do. Just make sure it has the amount of hdmi inputs you need, and other goodies like bluetooth, etc. The receiver isn’t going to affect your sound as much as it will limit you if you have a lot of inputs, 4k, wireless and such. $150-$200
With your budget, I’m going recommend the speaker set that I went with, Fluance Signature Series Bookshelf and Center. They come with a lifetime warranty, and if you buy them from fluance, they have a 30 day money back trial period. Bookshelves are a must, and are $200 right now (I got mine on a black friday deal cheaper). Center is $150, and at $500, you’ll have to decide if you want that first, or a sub. Since you do movies and gaming, I’d recommend the sub first.
This is my sub and for me, it’s great. Most people on this sub say don’t bother spending less than $400-500 on a sub, but this has all the bass I need and then some. It’s currently $119.99 on amazon with free shipping. Beware, it is big.
The downside to sub instead of the center at first, will be that the bookshelves will play dialog and sound effects and you won’t be able to adjust the ratio between the two until you get a center. Most of the time it isn’t a problem, but if you’re watching a movie quietly, it might be hard to get the effect quiet enough without not being able to hear dialog well. Plus is bass, which is really the wow factor.
Downside to the center first and not the sub is bass. Bass is king for a “wow” experience. The Signatures will still be a massive, massive improvement in bass compared to projector audio though.
That should be around your budget. There are of course lots of options at that price point, but since the budget lines up, and I am happy with my setup, that’s what I’d recommend. If anyone else would like to chime in, or you’d like to get a second opinion, that would be awesome too.

Way too much money for that type of speakers. Almost the same as buying the damn HTD Level Three bookshelves (these need distance to sound good, so not recommended if really close to your ears)..
~~You could also get the Kanto Ben’s for $160 (many color options).~~ Scratch that they are 4ohm (so might not work with your reciever), and they can’t even handle 50W.
These stands would work. There are of course many others.
Other options are the $200 Fluance Signature bookshelves, the $230 Wavecrests, or the $250 Cambridge Audio Aero 2’s.

If you can’t do in-ceiling or mount on-ceiling, then the A4 is your best bet if you want Atmos.
The ELAC’s are good speakers, said to be on the warm side, but the room correction should help with that. The B5’s are a bit overkill for surrounds for your buget and they are rear ported, so mount would need an arm and not simply leaning on the wall with a screw mount. A better sub could be had for the price (BIC F12 or Dayton 15″).
I would get better speakers+sub and then focus on Atmos later down the road (90% of what you hear is the fronts and subwoofer, the other 10% is surrounds/Atmos). I really like the HTD speakers (recommended them a lot). You can get the receiver for $410 shipped for a factory refurb from Accessories4Less, the HTD Level Three fronts+center (center is $30 cheaper if you get B-stock), the Fluance Signature bookshelves (or XL7S to save money), and the BIC PL-200; all that would run you just shy of $2K.

Increase budget slightly and get the Fluance Signature bookshelves for $200.
If working towards a 5.1, get the Dayton Air’s for <$70, they are better than the Micca’s. However, there is no real matching center, these will be moved and repurposed as your surrounds, and then new speakers up front.
As for a subwoofer, the Dayton 12″ for $150 is the cheapest you want to get, preferably either the BIC F12 for $190 or Dayton 15″ for $200 being the cheapest.

Your current sub isn’t that good at all, probably only like 38Hz at -3dB. If using the towers, just set the crossover to like 50Hz.
Towers don’t sound better than bookshelevs, they just get even louder and have deeper bass response. If you get the bookshelves instead of the towers, you will save ~$500, for that amount, you can get the SVS PB-1000 (also sold on Amazon).
That combo would blow away the towers matched with your current sub.

You don’t want to wall mount rear-ported speakers, as the air escaping the port (for bass notes) will bounce back. However, your current speakers don’t have much bass, so it’s not that much of an issue. For proper home theater speakers, you want either front ported or sealed speakers. The HTD bookshelves/center are front-ported, so no issues there.
Keeping with the $1500 budget, both bookshelves+center+sub vs towers+center would cost ~$1100. So, with ~$400 to spend on surrounds, you could simply order another set of the bookshelves, and then you would have perfect timbre matching; if going with speakers with a smaller profile and to save some money, get the Fluance Signature series bookshelf surrounds for $200 (also available in walnut color).
Unless all you really do is listen to “all channel stereo” music, what I would buy are the HTD Level Three bookshelves+center+SVS subwoofer, and then depending on how comfortable you are with the $1500, either come close to it by getting the same bookshelves as surrounds (they are very large speakers though, bigger than most bookshelves) or get the Fluance bookshelf surround and save some money. For home theater usage or upmixed music, the rears don’t need to be as good as the fronts, but if you’re comfortable with the $1500 and don’t have size constraints, get the HTD bookshelf as your surrounds.

Is doing a sub always recommended before a center? I would have guess it would be books, center, then sub but I’m just trying to figure this all out for a first time setup.
My space is 14×14 basement with one north facing window on the right hand wall. Seating is 9′ from TV which is a 65″ KS8000 I bought Friday. Based on the guides I’m looking at the Denon AVR-S510BT ($185), Fluance Signature Series books ($200), Fluance matched center ($150), and a Bic America F12 sub ($200).

I have Audio Technica M50S’s that I’d like to still use and be able to switch between speakers to headphones easily.

You might want to consider Sonos Play 1. A pair would sound amazing, not as good as your KEF’s, but then again, the KEF’s aren’t powered speakers either and you can’t play music directly from your smart phone into them. The sound quality from the Play 1’s is decidedly laid back (as opposed to being bright). You’d save some money, make your wife happy and would be able to enjoy the latest technologies in wireless audios. Plus, the Play 1’s don’t have to be on a stand, they are just as happy on the wall/ceiling.
