Cool. I messed with it a bit more last night and had similar result. Pressing the headset to the face first like the quickstart guide shows then rotating the back down felt better. The back foam sits higher than the base of my skull but its the only way to get it feeling good with thin vr cover foam.
Another thing I noticed is the thin VR cover foam only has contact at the front center area of my forehead because of the shape change from og vive. The cheek area is too thin as well so my nose would hit. So not a lot of contact surface to my face which creates the pressure points. What I did to fix was take one of the extra sleep masks I had lying around from earlier og vive fov experiments I had done and cut 4 strips. I stuck those strips behind the vr cover foam in areas where there was a gap between my face and foam so that it gave some extra thickness at the area above the temple and cheeks. It feels much better after that because the vr cover foam touches more of my face and releives the pressure points. Hope this helps anyone with similar issue.
