First pair of high fidelity headphones and I’m honestly speechless..
The highs are crystal clear but not too harsh, the mids are punchy in all the right places, and the low end is just phenomenal. I produce electronic music and my mixes are already much cleaner after buying these.
I bought an FiiO K3 DAC to run them through, and this thing is a freaking beast.

It really depends on your headphones. I have some fairly easy to drive headphones and I use the FiiO K3 which is a dac/amp combo with pretty decent reviews. I was skeptical at first due to it’s lower power compared to some stand alone amps but it powers well. The dac is unnecessarily good when you have it in 32bit mode. I’ve seen some people mention success with the older version (e10k) and those specific headphones so I would assume the newer, better one should work too. That is assuming you need an amp/dac at all. My onboard sound has shielding and is a 32bit dac with good reviews but I use that for my speakers. I am also pretty new to this stuff so maybe one of the smarter people can come along and give a better opinion.

In my Mazda 3 I was able to get a digital audio signal out of the factory HU that didn’t have any of the processing done to it. It now outputs audio through one of the vehicles USB outlets. I then have a FiiO K3 DAC sending signal via RCA to my 4 channel amp and mono amp. I’m not saying that this specific setup will work for everyone as not all stock HUs can put out digital signal.
The DAC I use is: https://www.amazon.ca/FiiO-DSD-USB-C-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B07KR3RF4H

It’s an amplified, increases power to your speakers/headphones.
I just got the Fiio K3, It’s the shit. It’s really nice and I’m playing back in 192k 32bit, crystal clear.
·
for those headphones you would want to look into a true amp or dac/amp combo.
personally, I use a fiio k3 desktop dac/amp. it’s compact and only needs a USB c cable. I don’t know if it would have enough power for those headphones, but it’d be a good start.

If you don’t want to upgrade your amp for quite some time: Drop + THX AAA 789 $299.
As a DAC, e.g Schiit Magni $99, ifi ZEN DAC $129, Topping E30 $129, FiiO K3 $80 (according to Amazon.com https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Headphone-Amplifier-Computer-Balanced/dp/B07KR3RF4H/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=fiio%2Bk3&qid=1602875413&sprefix=Fiio&sr=8-1&th=1&psc=1)
DAC/Amp combo units on this list are FiiO K3 and Ifi ZEN DAC

I just saw EK10. It looks very nice and stylish! The COAX out / line out confuse me on there purpose. I’m also assuming the USB connection sends digital information to the device.
·
So I am planning on upgrading my audio setup so that I use this as my dac/amp until I can afford a schitt stack or a nicer setup. Seeing how it has the option for USB-C I am planning on getting said USB-C cable. My question is what’s the fastest (data transferwise) USB-C to 3.1 cable? Or would a native USB-C to USB-C cable be better and I use an adapter to be able to connect? If you have better Dac/amp combos that are available in Canada please leave them in the replies just be weary of my C$150 budget.

Just to confirm, because I ordered it, this is the one, right: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KR3RF4H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I own the Fiio K3 (Newer version of E10K), and the Fiio K5 Pro. The K3 is great for IEMs and easy to drive headphones. But If you do want to spend the extra 50, the K5 Pro has way more power and a slightly better DAC based off what I hear. If it’s just for IEMs then save the fifty dollars and get the K3 , but if you plan on getting a decent pair of headphones in the future the K5 Pro would be the better option.

I have a pair of DT 990 PRO coming in on friday and will be listening using [this](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KR3RF4H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) through my computer and I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to get the most out of them. Also wondering where audiophiles like to listen to music since the Spotify desktop app doesn’t sound the best.

I got my FiiO K3 from B&H, but it’s this one if you prefer Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Headphone-Amplifier-Computer-Balanced/dp/B07KR3RF4H/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=fiio+k3&qid=1594181628&sr=8-3
And the K5 Pro, it’s a beefier version of the K3, It will be able to drive more demanding cans, but it lacks the balanced output.
Both are amp and dac combos.
If you’re willing to spend more you can get a Schiit Stack (https://www.schiit.com/products/magni-1 + https://www.schiit.com/products/modi-1)
Or a JDS LABS Atom Dac and Amp https://jdslabs.com/shop/?category=featured
The JDS are the gold standard for under 100 amp. I went with the K5 because it’s just one piece, simpler to organize and wire it up and it has more inputs, so I can use it in my PC via USB or my TV with the optical. I’ve also heard that is pretty much indistinguishable from the JDS Atom.

You should spend a few bucks more, and get the FIIO K3 instead. The E10K has a PCM-5102 DAC chip. The K3 has the much nicer AKM AK4452 DAC chip. This unit is well worth the 110 US. These are the upgrades from the E10K as well.
New Features now include (all upgrades from E10K):
- Type-c connection from E10k’s micro port
- A brand new UAC 2.0 connection
- Fine digital volume control
- 2.5 balanced output
- Upgraded COAX capability up to DSD64
- XMOS USB solution,
- AKM DAC
- 30% higher output power
- 1.9Vrms(0.6 higher) lineout output
- DSD 256
- Much higher SNR >113dB
- A lower THD

I assume you mean USB for your phone, right? That’s what makes sense. I’ve not seen many DAC/Amps with an analog Aux line in…
The FiiO K3 is close, but doesn’t have an analog out.
The Schiit Fulla has line or variable analog out (in addition to headphone) but no optical.
The AudioEngine D1 and SMSL M7 look like they have all of it, but are above your budget a bit.
But please check the features and confirm for yourself.

Have a look at this Fiio K3 Dac/amp:
I believe it can drive DT 770. It also has a bass boost switch that give a nice increase in bass that might suit your need.
Please note that you still need to plug this into your pc/ laptop. If you want a battery-powered dac/amp try Fiio Q1 mark 2.
·
That is a nice headphone.

I could suggest Fiio K3 for a start if you wish to use it at your desk.
If you wish to have a portable headphone amp/dac, Fiio Q1 Mark II got you covered. They’re in the top 10 spot for best selling Headphone Amp.
·
It’s available on Amazon.
·
Do you think something like this would be a good option?
·

Do you have an amp/dac to power your headphone?
I would like to suggest Sennheiser HD58X from Massdrop + Fiio K3 or E10K (Desktop use)/Fiio Q1 Mk II (portable) amp/dac.
Do note they are open back. So it is a great headphone for home/desktop use.

If you wish to travel and use at home… wirelessly, look at the new Audio Technica’s ATH-m50xBT
If you want to have a good noise canceling headphones, Sennheiser PCX 550 is a great contender.
