That’s the right board but I wouldn’t buy from that listing. How about this one: https://www.amazon.ca/EPOMAKER-Hotswap-Custom-Keyboard-Mounting/dp/B08KY4TQVC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=PBUESZU0BW8D&keywords=gk61x%2Bepomaker&qid=1644367143&sprefix=gk61x%2Bepomaker%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

Should I purchase this gk61x instead of the rk68 it is in stock and only $5 more Gk61x
·
As another stated, the GK61X is wired, the 61XS is wireless.
The GK61 uses optical switches.

Hey everyone! I recently sold my Logitech G502 to a friend because whilst I enjoyed typing on it, the clicky blue switches were too noisy for me, my fast typing and the fact I’m WFH and typing for 8 hours a day. I want to get a custom-ish mechanical keyboard to replace it, looking to keep the cost relatively low (ideally sub £150 but closer to £125), and have a more satisfying ‘thock’ sound rather than the high-pitched loud click of the G502. Here’s what I have in mind:
- Epomaker GK61X RGB hotswapabble kit (£55)
- Gateron Yellow MX Switches – I’d be open to potentially lubing these later down the line but probably not straight away (£21 for 68, which I understand is enough for a 60% keyboard?)
- GMK Botanical rip-offs (£49)
Will all of these parts work together? I’m quite keen to either get in on a group buy for Neely’s Blue Moon set, and/or to wait for the Blue Whale keycaps to be back in stock, but I know both of those things could take a long time.

I’ve just purchased a GK61X (I have switches and keycaps separately as it’s just a little side project I’m doing during the current lockdown!).

Gk61 kit on Amazon for about $60. Everything you need for a bare bones kit. Metal backplate pcb stabs and an ok plastic case.
