Well, compromises definitely had to be made to fit things… I packed my receiver and large speakers away (much to my family’s delight), and got a Schiit Mani phone amp and ran it into my powered speakers. They are Edifier S1000DB’s, and they sound absolutely fantastic in this small room (9X12ish). It doesn’t take much to fill this room with sound, and these powered speakers with all their inputs allow me to run my PC, TT and Bluetooth devices all through one set of pretty damn good sounding speakers… hell there is even another input still available if I ever want to hang a little TV in here. I added a Schiit Magni headphone amp to the set-up later for when I need to use headphones. It’s an efficient and flexible little office set-up.
I certainly wouldn’t be happy with it in my living room, but it is perfect for this little office. And I really don’t miss having my collection in the living room like I thought I would.
(PS- I think that these speakers might have a digital amp and so my chain is not all analog, but I really cannot tell. I really love these speakers in this space.)

If you are interested in smallest footprint possible, quality sound, and easy hookup…
Now, I personally don’t like powered speakers. I’d advocate going for two passive bookshelf speakers and a small amplifier. It gives you room to upgrade and grow later on down the line. But, I have a feeling that the Edifiers are what you’re looking for. However! Say otherwise if you’re open to the passive route; I feel it’s a better longterm solution.

These Edifier speakers are great too. They’re $350 right now, but sometimes go on sale for $300.

I’ve got two pair of Edifiers, one low end and one top end (their S1000DB). Their speakers are VERY impressive for the money. I am super happy with the S1000DB’s. https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-S1000DB-Audiophile-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B01CDIS6M0

Budget
200-400 USD
What I’m looking for
It needs Bluetooth, that’s it
What I’m using them for
Just to play music from my Macbook and sometimes my PS4, which is why I’m interested in having Bluetooth.
Anything else
I’m currently looking at this and this2. Are they good choices? If so, which one should I choose? Any other recommendations?
Or do I use my paycheque to buy the LS50s? :p

> Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.
