What the hell is a stream deck? Let me do a quick image s— OMG I WANT ONE

For anyone else who stumbles into this thread, it’s a little USB panel of buttons that you can map to shortcuts and apps. A TourBox is a similar idea but for audio/video editing. Unfortunately they’re $100+

Maybe this mini three-key macro pad is a cheap alternative?

What about a QR code that links to a web page with a gallery of your products? At this point most people can figure it out, and if they can’t, you just tell them to go to the camera on their phone and hold it up to the QR code, then it’ll show they link and they click the link to go to the gallery.

You could also get something like this hooked up to a laptop, hook the laptop up to a bigger, separate screen, and program the keys to go forward or backward through your gallery. Simple stick-on labels (or a permanent marker, even) for the keys to let people know what the keys do.

Another option could be a giant poster-type thing with pictures of everything. Could have a front and a back so 2 people could look at the same time.

But honestly, your goal probably shouldn’t be to show every product you have, but rather to get people interested in your business. If they like you and if they like the general idea of the products you sell and think you’re selling high-quality (or low-cost, or eco-friendly, or whatever) products, they’ll gladly go to your website to check out all their options.

Hook this up to windows and set the macros to volume control. Take out or don’t program the middle key and you won’t accidentally activate it with your foot.

Yeah, like I said, heading over to Amazon and buying a 3 key macro-pad like this is effectively what you’re asking for.

Some things to think about though.

  • Using non-corporate hardware that has not been approved (macropad/whatever) might land you in hot water.
  • Storing what should be a memorized credential in plain text on non-corporate hardware may land you in hot water.

And because there’s some SSO thing in front of all these, often there’s an additional SSO challenge for some of those resources/Well why don’t you talk to IT about it?” Man, the IT department alone probably has 1000 people. You might as well be calling customer support for your high speed internet provider.

As a security professional it helps immensely when I have actionable tickets to work off of when it comes to allotting resources to projects. I’m assuming you’re part of a Dev/DevOps team?

Either way you are expensive. If I find out the security systems in place are slowing down your productivity or inadvertently causing security issues because you’re going out of your way to try and find a solution to get work down without losing your mind, I need the SPECIFICS of what the issue is so I can escalate accordingly.

7 or 8 systems that don’t seem to work with SSO seems like a real issue.

And besides, I have enough to do every day, without needing to tell IT people how to do their job. I’m not a security specialist anyway.

I get it, big company, silos and everything. But nothing will change unless you bring it up in some capacity.

In a perfect world if your employer enabled this for your SSO platform (and your SSO platform was actually…SSOing) you would just use FIDO2 on the SSO platform to log in either with an alphanumeric PIN or a biometric and you’d use OpenSSH with a FIDO2 credential as a SSH key for linux stuff (sudo, ssh, whatever) and that’d be it.

Better security for the company, less craziness for you.

You’re welcome! Glad I could help. I have used switches and switch interfaces before that I borrowed from AT libraries, for school, etc. Unfortunately, I didn’t get all the AT I needed before I turned 22 and funding dried up. (If you are under 22, apply for all the charity/financial aid funding before you get to that age because most programs don’t allow anyone 22 and up. I didn’t know this.) I have the switch interface that I used to drive my head array on my wheelchair and the various switches that go with it. My insurance paid for it because it’s part of my wheelchair drive system. Oh, and as far as switches: There are a lot of good ones. Just FYI, proximity switches really, really don’t live up to the hype. I mean, they’re way better than nothing, but they really don’t have the precision they ought to. I know they’re improving, but unless you are like me and have to rely on proximity switches, I would suggest using a different kind. I really like my Mini Cup Switch (https://www.ablenetinc.com/mini-cup-switch/). I also have a little mini keyboard that I have mounted to one of those bendable phone arms for holding near my chin for Zoom appointments. It’s just USB, so no switch interface is necessary. I don’t know what your disabilities are or how you’re planning to hit the switch, but perhaps something like that might work for you? I can’t vouch for this particular product but something like this would do it: https://www.amazon.com/Ecarke-Mechanical-Keyboard-Programming-Software/dp/B08P1GY3GN/

For the difference in cost I’d get a $30 one though…
