Im probably going to get downvotes from this sub, but the Chinese ones on Amazon are pretty nice to me. I have this one and I like it. Its a little bit loud, but the typing feel is great.
·
I’m not to big on full sized kbs so I don’t know if I can help you out to much there.
With a quick search on Amazon I dug this up.

I need the 10key for work, so I know that will cost me a bit more. And I thought about getting a tester, but it’s about the same price as some cheaper boards on Amazon & feel like it would be a waste of the budget. Maybe I’ll try something like this and return it or resell or if I don’t like it, I didn’t even think of that to be honest…
Edit to fix link: (this is from one of the guides on here) https://www.amazon.com/EagleTec-KG010-Industrial-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B015MPQQ0A/?tag=b3J7sB2xVOf2-20

Yeah I spent like $45 on this off brand one with the clicky blue style keys. I’ve had it for nearly 4 years and have had no trouble with it. Just the other day actually some water was spilled on it, and a few moments later after a few keys stopped working, it all started working again. Tough little guy.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that if you’re typing super fast and holding the shift key at the same time, you have to apply slightly more pressure to the shift key than would be expected or you GEt A FEW SMAlL LETTeRS (manually typed that for effect), but I certainly can’t complain.
·
Greetings,
I currently own this keyboard and am looking for a good replacement for it.
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Illuminated-Industrial-backlighted-EagleTec/dp/B015MPQQ0A
The spacebar and a couple other keys have become somewhat unresponsive recently, as in sometimes when I press the ‘s’ or spacebar keys, they wont register on my screen while other keys act fine. I’ve looked online for tutorials on how to safely remove the keys for my keyboard in case I may just have to do some cleaning in there but I got nothing 🙁
And so, with no luck on finding tutorials, I ask, what is a good mechanical keyboard that’s got blue backlit keys and a price range around $40 – $50 like the one I linked?
·
It’s not mechanical, so no. My keyboard cost $40 and it’s fully aluminum and mechanical. I use this keyboard at work, it was a cheap impulse buy. I’ve been super satisfied with it, though it is my first mech.
Blue switches but not sure what kind.
·
I really have only bought and used Eagletec keyboards as far as comparatively inexpensive keyboards go. I like boards with “blue” type switches in them for the “bump” when you type and of course the mechanical click. They may not be the best for gaming, though. Some people find the feedback and noise distracting. Any keyboard with Outemu switches in them should be similar, just depends on how much you want to pay and what style you want.
I bought one of these ($40) and I like it as much as keyboards I have paid much more for but you may personally like a different one. Read some reviews and find out about the differences between the different switch brands and colors to see what you may like. Or, just bite the bullet and buy a cheap board to see how it feels. Anyway, have fun!
I found a likely 20 year old Cherry keyboard in the electronics recycle bin at work today. It’s got the old ML switches in it and the large 5-pin connector so I’ll have to find an adapter to check it out. I hope it works, it’s a nice solid old keyboard that doesn’t even look used.
·
Thats the thing though it says it has nKey rollover as well as anti-ghosting. https://www.amazon.ca/Mechanical-Illuminated-Industrial-backlighted-EagleTec/dp/B015MPQQ0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511988948&sr=8-1&keywords=Gaming%2BKeyboard%2BMechanical%2BIlluminated%2BKeyboard%2BLED%2BBacklit%2Bfor%2BPC%2BGamer%2B1…

GET THE EAGLETEC K010. IT PERFECTLY MATCHES YOUR CASE AND IS MECHANICAL FOR ONLY $40. https://www.amazon.com/EagleTec-KG010-Industrial-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B015MPQQ0A/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492915303&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=eagletec+K010

If he can put up with not having red led’s or would be willing to install them himself I can’t say enough good things about this board https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MPQQ0A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have a nice corsair mechanical with brown switches at home and bought this one as a relatively cheap keyboard. It’s built of good material, the keys come off easily if you want to swap them/customize them, and and it has a great heavy tactile feel.
·
Yeah, I know, they are “mechanical feel” keyboards. I did end up finding one that met all the criteria
·
EagleTec K010 (black) or K011 (white/silver) mechanical keyboard. $43 shipped on prime, uses Outemu blue switches which are a more tactile (and loud) version of the Cherry MX blues. I like it more than my K95 RGB despite being MUCH cheaper.
·
This is mine. It’s coming in this Friday. I’ve been typing on my work keyboard, which is not a mechanical, but it has less mushy keys than the keyboard I am using at home.
Now that I am actually thinking about it, I realize just how mushy the keys are, and they are resistant too, not yielding easily to strokes.
I am anxious now to rid myself of this keyboard, even though it has served me well, and I really like the rubberized finish.
Excited for this Friday.
·
The switches are custom, but have a feel and sound similar to Cherry Blue switches. (Meaning loud and clicky!)
It has aluminum and ABS construction and ten levels of brightness. It’s minimalist and classy, but has the full keyboard with the number pad and everything.
It’s a great “entry” mechanical keyboard, but in my opinion it is good for those who have been in the game for a while, too.
Oh, and it’s 40 bucks.
·
Just to note, the KG010-R is not actually RGB, and each row just has a different LED colour. It’d be better (and cheaper) to just get the regular KG010.
·
I’m sure the enthusiasts at /r/mechanicalkeyboards will hate me, but I have the Mechanical Eagle Kg011, or something like that, from Amazon. Cost me 50 bucks with blue switches and blue LEDs, and I know they have it in black with blue LEDs. It’s cheap, it’s loud, and it is pretty well built.
EDIT: In particular, I was referring to this keyboard. Mine is the silver with white keys, and its treated me well the past few months. It’s certainly very loud and clacky though, so be ready for that.
·
Backlit version.

I don’t have a lot to compare it to. It’s loud but not obnoxious. Louder than my Unicomp Model M (buckling springs, basically the same as an IBM Model M). You can probably get a better idea of the comparative loudness by reading through the Amazon reviews.
·
Not a problem, just trying to get the price as low as possible just to show what your options are. As far as mouse and KB go, since you’re already getting a dedicated gaming mouse I’d go with a different KB. Less than $50 can get you a backlit mechanical keyboard.
·
I got this one a couple months ago and couldn’t be happier. It’s almost a complete clone of the Corsair K series mechanical keyboards including the aluminum build but it uses aftermarket switches and is limited to blue LED. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in a mechanical keyboard.

If you cant afford that just grab whatever cheapo brand you can get from walmart.
·
I am probably very late for this but if you are buying a new keyboard get a mechanical. You can get some cheaper ones off amazon that still work great. Lighting is a lot of fun but to get RGB you are looking at a price tag of $100 and up, that said you can get a standard backlit for much cheaper such as this or somthing like this if you dont use the keypad. With mechanical keyboards you can change the keycaps to anything you like which is very cool, check out /r/mechanicalkeyboards for more on that.
Oh and there are different switches on different mechanical keyboards, they determin how hard the key is to press, if you hear a click, and if you feel a bump on actuation. The most common switches are MX cherry browns and MX cherry reds. Check this out for more info.
I realize i am most likely already too late but oh well

Also, here’s a neat trick for sharing Amazon links: everything after the word “ref” can be removed from the URL, leaving you with short links like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Ergonomic-Industrial-Illuminated-backlighted/dp/B015MPQQ0A/
and this https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Apex-RGB-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B07ZGDPT4M/

Generally I think I prefer full size. And the main reason I was looking at Amazon was because I figured their shipping would be quicker with these lockdowns… I want my new toys lol. I was thinking of trying cherry mx brown, but yeah again I was looking for something quicker.
I have this one currently, which I could probably hold onto until stores open up and I can go try a few at micro center. Have definitely spent enough in the last few days
·
For the price, I’d rather get this keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Illuminated-Industrial-backlighted-EagleTec/dp/B015MPQQ0A/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1514836733&sr=8-4&keywords=mechanical+keyboard
And this mouse (it frequently drops to $20: https://www.amazon.com/G203-Prodigy-Wired-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B01M26YUKO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514836823&sr=1-1&keywords=logitech+g203
·
The keyboard is nothing special, just a cheap little thing. Here is a link on Amazon.
·
·
For cherry mx, you’re going to have to spend more than $50. Logitech g610 orion is one of the more reliable budget mechanical keyboards.
For less than $50, you can get an eagletec kg010 but it has ornatu? blue switches which are hella loud (louder than cherry blues).
Or you can try to get used mechanical keyboards.
·
Eagletec kg010

Here’s a “true” backlit mechanical keyboard under 50:

I was thinking about getting this one myself

Judging from this screenshot of the Ken Bone Video at 4:16, it’s most definitely a EagleTec KG010, same logo on the top and screw on the top right.
Can’t be a K70 due to the differences in size of the keys on the right of the spacebar.
·
Lots of Chinese mechanical switch keyboards in that price range. Eagletech, Redragon, and Gamidias are popular.
above $50 gets you a kb with genuine cherry switches, any of these for instance

Is this a real mechanical keyboard? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MPQQ0A/ref=pd_cp_147_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GK3CR65AB363CGB3WXCS
if it is i might end up going with this one since i really like blue.
·
Depends on your budget. The very lowest I would recommend is the Cooler Master Devastator KB/mouse combo for ~$30. The mouse uses a passable avago 3050 sensor that won’t have any major issues compared to cheaper sensors like avago 5050, that will skip or jitter during higher speed movements, and the keyboard is decent and backlit. Past that you’re looking at a dedicated mouse and KB combination that probably won’t be cheaper than ~$80 or so with a higher quality sensor gaming mouse and budget mechanical keyboard; something like these:

Some that I found in my digging (excluding smaller form-factor ones) that seem fairly well-reviewed:
Outemu Blues, numpad, blue backlight, aluminum frontplate: http://www.amazon.com/EagleTec-KG010-Industrial-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B015MPQQ0A
Kailh Blues, numpad, red backlight: http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Backlit-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B016M91SS0

I’m using one of these at work. It’s nice for the price.
