I don’t think there’s anything wrong with dumbbells! And it’s pretty hard to hurt yourself with them (not impossible, just hard). If you’re not sure with to do with them, there are books like this one, or structured programs like ChaLEAN Extreme. If you end up designing your own program, do not forget to do strength, cardio, and flexibility training. Many structured programs come with diet guides. My diet advice? Make sure the lion’s share of your carbs come from fruits and veggies, don’t eat anything with added sugars, be sure you get enough protein, and avoid processed foods.
