I’m looking into getting a TKL or 60% keyboard, mostly eyeing the DK61E. I want to have a keyboard which lends itself to getting new keys later.

  • Are all keys pretty much universal (excluding those 3D keys that have shapes and such on them) and therefore, all keyboards should accept them?

  • Is there a keyboard in the $60-100 USD range which lends itself to swapping out keys easily?

I have been using full-sized mechanical keyboards for years and finally decided to get a 60% after browsing this sub. Started off cheap with this and the plan is to customize it to make it my own down the line with different switches, keycaps, mods, etc.

However, I am having a hard time adjusting to the smaller size and lack of keys. Did anybody else have a similar experience getting their first 60%? It feels so small and… foreign.
